    led light for bathroom floor

Technically, you could do this yourself. However, as flameport says, it would cost a lot to notify building control. I'd recommend going the electrician route. just make sure they are registered with a competent person self certification scheme (Elecsa, NAPIT or NICEIC) They can notify for...

    Mira Sport Max 10.8KW

The old position of the pullcord might be OK. It depends how high the ceiling is above floor level. The zones in a bath/shower room only extend up to 2.25m. It's OK for the actual cord to be inside a zone, so long as the body of the switch is outside it. Hence my question about the ceiling...

    Mira Sport Max 10.8KW

Yes, we got a little out of sync. I saw your photo. Unfortunately it's difficult to make out much detail. That's the problem with wider shots! I'm not afraid to admit that I'm not familiar with some of the eqipment shown in your photo too. You might have an RCD in the box at the right...

    Mira Sport Max 10.8KW

I'm not sure I'd agree that it's very simple. Your circuit protective device is rated at 40A. Your shower is rated to draw 45A. Is that a problem? The answer is complicated. Would it be OK to fit a 45A protective device? (There are at least 3 things you'd need to check) You say the...

    Mira Sport Max 10.8KW

Yes, your photo shows a 40A, Type B MCB in it's own consumer unit. It would be useful to see a wider picture (literally). I suspect that you may not have RCD protection on that circuit though. This isn't a big problem, but will need to be sorted before your friendly electrician can sign off.

I sympathise with your situation. I would also describe myself as a "competent DIYer". Anyway, the person who is signing off the work must be happy with every aspect of it. They should be involved throughout.

    Mira Sport Max 10.8KW

Mark, Your username suggests you might be an electrician of some kind or are training to become one. Is this the case? Could you tell us what your electrical background is? The reason for asking, is that this work is probably notifiable under part P of the building regulations. That means...

    Mira Sport Max 10.8KW

Hi, Welcome to the forum. I'm afraid I can't see your photo. A couple of questions though: What was the rating of your old shower? Are you sure it's 10mm cable?

Will Powerpack sort out how to get electric in my garage?

2200w version is on sale at argos. Can't comment on it though. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7070899/Trail/searchtext%3EGENERATOR.htm

Looking for a time delay lock out

A simpler solution might be a simple timer (staircase style) that is operated by a pull switch a few meters away from the shower.

Looking for a time delay lock out

How about taking the trigger for the 2 minute timer from the n/o output of the 1 minute timer?

    Positive Isolation

An electrician would call these exposed and extraneous conductive parts. I doubt many would routinely test these for live. The reason being that one of the main aims of designing an electrical installation is to make sure these never have a dangerous voltage on them. What they should test for...

Replacing Double Socket with FCU for electric fire

I agree with ricicle. If it can be supplied from a 13A plug into the existing socket, then that's an easy solution. If it draws more than 13A, then it won't be possible to use a spur of any sort.

    Product of the week!™

I think I remember seeing it on dragons' den. Theo decided to test it... broke it... and the socket it was attached to.

Bulb blew now dimmer switch wont work......

It's a complicated issue. Dimmers may increase or decrease halogen bulb life. This is a better explanation than I could give: http://members.misty.com/don/bulb1.html

    12v wired lighting

Your problem seems to be that neither your "spark" or your "lighting engineer" are taking responsibility for the design of the installation. It seems that you are taking on the role of designer. That's a problem for two reasons: 1. You aren't sure what you are doing. 2. You can't get...

How do you intend to show compliance with Part P of the building regulations?

Bulb blew now dimmer switch wont work......

That's debatable. It can increase the life.

    12v wired lighting

You also need to make sure that the dimmer is suitable for dimming your transformer. There are different types (trailing and leading edge) and most dimmers have to be de-rated if driving an inductive load. Why don't you get your spark to help you?

PART P, ive got an interesting one.

Trespass and criminal damage. Send a letter by recorded delivery to your neighbour asking them to remove the equipment and make good the damage within a set time period or you will do so yourself and bill them for it.
