Electrician has left holes in interior brickwork

Does using conduit mean someone would have to go in to the brick work so that when it's plastered it gets a smooth finish? Also, I was really surprised that even though they haven't used conduit in most internal walls, that they would have at least used it in the kitchen and utility room and...

Electrician has left holes in interior brickwork

I asked about conduit from the beginning. I rang the private inspector who told me that there is an argument in the industry as to for and against and to not worry about it because it is acceptable not to use conduit in this case. However, I currently live in a well strong stone house and the...

Electrician has left holes in interior brickwork

Yes, but I think the ceilings will be okay in our house because I am not getting that company to be in charge of the plastering! I saw the various stages of the loft conversion and the floor was reinforced everywhere. The joists were reinforced everywhere with really thick timbers. They put...

Electrician has left holes in interior brickwork

The electrician whose business it is. The loft company is not listed but they do have good testimonials and I would hazard a guess that the construction of the loft is fine although there have been some right teething problems. Although I hear that builders, even reputable ones have wandering...

Electrician has left holes in interior brickwork

He is listed on the NIC EIC website. He is the only tradesman actually on the books of the conversion company we used. All other tradesmen have been paid separately. He has been to the house whilst the guy he has employed to do the work has been there and it may be that he doesn't actually...

Electrician has left holes in interior brickwork

I have gone on two sites to get all round advice on this and for when I approach the electrician so that I have enough amo from a good cross section of people. Although I might not have to if I am lucky because I have e-mailed NIC about it including pictures and comments from...

Electrician has left holes in interior brickwork

That is incredibly helpful to know. Thank you. I will be e-mailing NIC with pictures. I really don't want to have to go through the long drawn out route of filling in a complaints form etc and hope the pictures stir their into action with an inspection as a matter of urgency. We have just had...

Electrician has left holes in interior brickwork

On the other side to the cables going in that wall is one wire that leads to where they have plugged in equipment to do joinery work and mix plaster. This is the photo of the other side of the wall with the socket hanging down. It's a side shot unfortunately and I hope you can see what I mean...

Is it okay to nail gun floorboards?

We just went through photos of the house taken today and he's put screws in the stairs where they needed strengthening as there was a cracking sound on them and that looks fine. All neat and no worries - so why he's then done that on the floorboards.... I ... just .... don't ..... know. I am...

Electrician has left holes in interior brickwork

took some more photos today.... some inside the loft conversion where I just held the camera and as these wires are not clipped up anywhere I wondered if that was bad practise or if something is done on the second fix???? All advice appreciated as I am planning to get this sorted out asap as...

Is it okay to nail gun floorboards?

Do you know, this guy actually hung the bathroom door beautifully. I mean, he's done things on this job which seemingly have been absolutely fine, so why oh why oh why does a "tradesman" do some jobs fine and then go and do this? Has anyone experienced that before? It's been very weird...

Is it okay to nail gun floorboards?

i am beginning to feel a right burk using this company.... my legs have gone weak. As Bette Davis once said "Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy ride"

Electrician has left holes in interior brickwork

Thank you. I have uploaded more recent photos. Who could I get to check their work? I have heard that building inspectors don't check the re-wiring - that they are more concerned with the structural issues.

Please advise on recent plastering job

The plastering under the window has dried like that and I am wondering if paint will be ok to stick to it? I'm no expert btw by any means... In the last photo - should they not have skimmed there? I know it's a tight spot but they have left it like that and I have paid them. It's an easy spot...

Is it ok to get council in after paying off private?

Yet to get the private inspector in to sign off just the loft conversion. There's loads of other work to do round the house for which I think I should get a builder to project manage with a council inspector?. Private BCO has been paid because they want the bill paid before they sign it off...
