Which Type of Boiler / System?

What system controls do you have at present? Any motorised valves? If it's gravity HW (primary), pumped CH, and you change the boiler, worth improving the system, several options available on the plumbing, before getting into Nest, Tado etc

Which Type of Boiler / System?

You can't pressurise your existing HW cylinder. If you want mains-pressure HW it would need a different cylinder. If you get a new boiler it could be a heat-only direct replacement, or you could have a pressurised type, with accumulator, and remove the F/E tank in the loft. But no advantage in...

Gravity based back boiler CH system - Advice needed.

And make the cold feed up and under, to avoid convection warming the F/E tank, encouraging algae growth.

    Changing toilet

I wouldn't use a flexi, rigid pipe looks (and lasts) much better. There's some excuse for flexis to kitchen sink taps, which can be hard to get to, but even then if it's DIY so time spent isn't a problem, it's worth making the effort to use rigid. That will last indefinitely and adds rigidity to...

    Revolting Iranians

We'll just have to wait and see (and hope). Maybe the current lot will fall and another lot take over, but without Reza Pahlavi.

    Revolting Iranians

As I understand it, Reza Pahlavi doesn't say he wants to be a new Shah, but to act as an intermediary till a more representative government takes over. Be great if that happens!

    Venezuela

What is international law? Who imposes it and what are the penalties? It hasn't done anything to deter Putin, Xi, Assad and Maduro to name a few, some of whom have sat on panels deciding when it has been violated.

Oil boiler on an ASHP designed system

On sludge digestion plants on sewage works, using biogas in the boilers, we used minimum return temperature control, 60°C IIRC. Because of sulphur compounds in the biogas, but hadn't heard of it on natural gas.

Oil boiler on an ASHP designed system

If it's a modern condensing boiler I don't see why corrosion would be a problem, it's designed for condensation, which is improved by generously sized rads allowing low water temperature. But worth checking with the boiler manufacturer.

    Revolting Iranians

That's largely true, but we are where we are now. Maybe the Shah would not have been deposed if he had acted differently, and reined in SAVAK. But for the Iranian people who wanted him gone, it's a case of be careful what you wish for.

    Snow, what snow?

I don't know why everybody doesn't include it in their details. It's often useful as background to queries, problems etc.

    Revolting Iranians

It wasn't the west that fomented revolution in 1979. The Shah was pro-western.

That's from September 2022. Bigger riots going on now. Let's hope the Ayatollah and his fellow head cases soon abscond to Moscow.

The comment was "Got nothing to do with the war.", not war in general. How can the war be affected by something that happened 10 years later?
