    Strange gas pressure drop

My bad, the manual does give minimum inlet pressure, at the test point. It's on page 37, says 15mb for the ecoTEC plus 637. There'll be some loss before that point, gas iso valve etc. There doesn't appear to be test point upstream of that, so unless one is added on the pipe just before the...

    Strange gas pressure drop

Interesting. I haven't (yet) found a manual which gives actual required gas pressure, but several of them say 20mb (nominal) which is something!

    Strange gas pressure drop

I wasn't trying to tell you anything you didn't know! I remember seeing a boiler manual which specified an actual pressure requirement. I'll try to find it.

    Strange gas pressure drop

Do you mean the 20mb? Because it could be 17.5mb and meet the regs. Perhaps they say 20 to give themselves a getout, don't know whether they'd get away with it!

    Strange gas pressure drop

I'd be a bit sceptical about the 9.5mb. My boiler needs about 10mb at the burner at design output, so if it's anything similar clearly 9.5mb is too low. There would be some pressure loss over the gas valve and the pressure at the burner, and boiler output would fall. Boiler manual here in case...

Is the maximum loss between meter and boiler still 1mb?

I think we have had it

No, but ban halal and kosher slaughter on animal welfare grounds and the question doesn't arise.

    Strange gas pressure drop

The minimum must have changed then, 21+2 = 23mb still

    Strange gas pressure drop

Sounds like a try-on to me. For one thing, if those are the pressures he says are a problem, you'd expect them to be noted on the report.

    Strange gas pressure drop

I thought pressure out of the meter was 21+/-2mb, so minimum 19mb.

    Gas Pipe size questions

More of the same, you don’t answer my questions but resort to insults. You claim I’m wrong but don’t say how. Do you really mean to go on a public forum and admit you can’t understand simple pictures on a web page? As I said before, the pressure loss for a sharp bend given by both online...

    skint and no heating

Any chance of getting a gas fire? Cheaper to run than electric. One in the living room would help, some heat would circulate round the house. Failing that a free-standing propane heater.

    Gas Pipe size questions

That's good coming from somebody who can't understand a picture, never mind figures. I know you've got so far into this you can't admit you're wrong, but you're really past a joke now.

OK have it your way. I've tried, you clearly don't understand basic science (or logic) I'm out of here.

    Gas Pipe size questions

I asked you to let me know what you get. What's the problem? How many times do I have to explain it? I gave details of the headloss factors for both types in #12 and #15. Didn't you understand the picture in the online calculator? I would hope you're a competent plumber, but you clearly don't...

    Sorry, but this is important.

Same here. Many years ago the number of men wanting to behave as a woman was very small, but those who did, even if they'd had no surgery, provided they weren't too obviously male, could use women's toilets and nobody would notice. He'd have the sense to avoid a situation with communal showers...
