Yeah, its a red button with a '+' on it. Just press the button to reset it. If it overheats again it will auto shut off, normally because the thermal store doesn't have enough water in it.
Are you sure it is completely re-filled ? The cold feed pipe could be blocked.
Hi All,
My rescued Powermax 185 boiler is starting to make quite a few banging noises inside, which I assume is kettling. What's the procedure for descaling one of these beasts ?
I've seen you can get Sentinel Boiler Noise Reducer, is this the solution ? If so how often do you need to...
Yes, fair point Agile, I have assumed he meant a leak on the tank, ie where joints 'connect' onto the tank, it may be a separate issue altogether.
Femur, please describe or clarify the exact problem, so it's easier to know what situation you've got.
Hi Femur,
I managed to repair a tank leak (and many other problems) on my Powermax 185 boiler, although was advised to not bother by many people !
To be fair it did involve a serious amount of hassle and grief, it would help if you could describe or post a photo of your exact problem so it's...
Hi,
Is it possible to buy external flue gaskets ?
I want to obtain one to fit over the flue on the external wall, as the sealant is very degraded and you can see the gap in the wall which can let the elements in slightly.
Is it safe and acceptable to install a rubber gasket over the...
I'm glad you find an honest decent engineer to solve the problem. BG are a joke (along with many others) where Powermax boilers are concerned, they will take the easy way out and say it needs replacing when in reality it more often doesn't.
Most engineers shy away from Powermaxes and make up...
I'm going to drain down, then add some inhibitor and noise reducer to my Powermax boiler system.
What are peoples opinions on the 'No Nonsense' range from Screwfix ? Can you leave the No Nonsense 'Boiler Noise Reducer' product in the system indefinitely, like you can with the the Sentinel...
Thanks very much for the response Gas4You.
Is the Sentinel Boiler Noise Reducer worth adding at the same time as the inhibitor ? Apparantly it can be left in the system for its lifetime and not need flushing.
I'm going to add some inhibitor to the Powermax 185 thermal store system, is 1 litre of Sentinel (or equivalent) enough for this system. Or should I be using something like MB1, which comes in 4 litres ?
Would it be worth adding some Sentinel Boiler Noise reducer at the same time, as we do...
The other day I drained down a Powermax 185 thermal store boiler, to fit TRV's and to remove any rubbish within the system. When I then re-filled the system it took ages, about 3 hours to completely fill.
Is this right ? Initially water quickly ran from the cold feed, but then it seemed to...
