    White T&E - Advice on a rewire

If it was tested 3 years ago and was "fair" it's fine isn't it? Any more detail on the report at all?

    Question re Yale keys

Mine catches in the first 1/2-1mm of the tip of the key catching on the very front of the profile if it's not bang on straight. It doesn't even touch or get past the shutter so I doubt lubricating behind that will help a great deal.

    Question re Yale keys

I had the same barrels supplied with my new front door and have a similar problem, looking at my key it doesn't look and of the valleys for the pins are really tight to the end so it's probably alright.

    Pond Electrics!

If it's an old pump it's worth reviewing the power consumption very carefully anyway for cost reasons, I replaced my Mum's old Blagdon with a newer energy efficient one that paid for itself in only about 8-9 months when the energy prices were a bit mad

    Manslaughter... or not

This is a joke right? Requirement? There's km and km of signed paths that aren't.

Belfast sink doesn’t fit - any advice?

Bring the whole sink forward and affix a piece of stainless steel to the underside of the back edge flush with the sink edge to cover the gap?

iBoost+ lost pairing, normal or some thing wrong?

Per the instructions (https://www.solartradesales.co.uk/Cache/Downloads/manual.pdf): "When fitting batteries or DC power supply the sender should be 1-2m away from the Solar iBoost+" It does also mention needing to re-pair "if the signal becomes lost", also done 1-2m away, I think your...

    Wire End Crimps

Possibly not easy to see on some auction pics but the cheapo terminal crimper that I bought from eBay to terminate my bicycle dynamo cabling also has the same correct profile and does a good job (JX-1601 as labelled), probably don't need an RS one for a small job...

    13 amp plug overheating

The weak point of a lot of plugs is them cracking and falling apart when they're hit against various surfaces, this is normally the bit they're mitigating or referring to when they say "heavy duty"

    13 amp plug overheating

Wonder if you just have so much voltage loss over the whole setup that the current draw is a lot higher, try it on power usage meter that shows consumption and voltage at the van end.

    Where to connect ethernet cables?

If he's not charging much and it can be done neatly do it, you can use it to feed a Wifi unit in the loft rather than having it rely on wireless back to the router which can be more reliable

    Where to connect ethernet cables?

Powerline adapters work (well) in some houses but not in others from having used them in various places, buy them from somewhere with a decent returns policy and return them if they don't work for you. If your provider provides a mesh wifi setup or if you buy mesh wifi you can (usually) also...

Recommend me a Hex key set please

Alas If that were always so, the hex head on my saddle mount is mostly obscured by the saddle so with a "traditional" allen key you can only turn a tiny bit at a time as the saddle is fouling it whereas with the long shaft on the T handle one it's a piece of cake.

Recommend me a Hex key set please

For the odd 7mm you may be better off just buying that one separately rather than hunting round for a set

Recommend me a Hex key set please

Got a decent Wiha T handle set years ago for bike maintenance but these are now not cheap.

    How are your potholes?

Potholes are a sign of failure, backlog stands at £16.3 billion (https://www.asphaltuk.org/alarm-survey-page/), trying to patch up bits of the failure isn't a long-term plan. Quote from their report "We are in a state of managed decline, and we all know that throwing money at patching and...

    Combining different systems

I'd disagree, you shouldn't have to touch any YAML if you're using mainstream plugins. The only bit I've had to touch is for an ESPHome ESP device with a current sensor hanging off it which is at the fringes of most people's usage.

Battery size to use off peak power?

Right, I meant the data from the inverter/battery system, the summary graph will show a small amount but it looks like you can inspect and export out the individual elements.

Battery size to use off peak power?

To work properly it has to monitor import/export which should give you more data. Is there no data in the interface such as on page 6 of this: https://irp.cdn-website.com/8cc12b47/files/uploaded/Lux%20Power%20Monitor%20SystemUser%20Interface.pdf

    Combining different systems

Yes, I've used it loads, it has lots of plugins supporting all manner of the weird and wonderful from the cheap and cheerful to mainstream stuff. I only have some ZigBee sensors and sockets and a few Wi-Fi mains relays and some control of my heating. It's Linux based but the install images hide...
