    Heating wont turn off

These readings are with the yellow (switched boiler live from orange wire ) removed from the connector, and with all 5 valve wires removed from the connector again too : Grey 240v White 0v Orange 59v Same as above including the 59v Grey40v White 0v Orange 240v No - obviously no boiler...

    Heating wont turn off

Very interesting options. I can see no evidence of leaks near the boiler of programmer or anywhere else (the house is not damp) , also pretty sure that noone has been hanging pictures or doing any DIY in a while which would cause a wiring fault in that way. Which would bring the programmer...

    Heating wont turn off

matt1e, thanks for these, results are below. Two things to mention 1. The system is was wired normally except that all 5 valve wires were removed. 2. All measurements were done to both neutral and to earth and they were the same in every case. Grey 240v White 0v Orange 39v Same as...

    Heating wont turn off

They go through a hole in the floor with all the other wires, so it may be difficult to tell. I will try and take another picture anyway. EDIT: Two pictures, sorry about the really poor quality; the lighting is not good in that room at night. If better quality ones will help I can do them...

    Heating wont turn off

Should this be done with the fault present, or after a power reset ? Thanks

    Heating wont turn off

Ok thanks for the info on the room stat and the red wires. That makes sense. There is no short when checked out of circuit, and the valve was new, and to be sure I replaced the head last week too. The fault has not changed, so I have to assume the actuator/head is not at fault. There is a...

    Heating wont turn off

Thank you both for your replies. I think I have already done the FAQ tests which are similar to the ones matt1e is proposing, but I will follow your procedure anyway in case it turns anything up (I will measuring to neutral and earth), and report back later. The pump live is not...

    Heating wont turn off

Since I had the cylinder stat removed I did a resistance check. Stat turned down TC-->T1 = O/C TC-->T2 = 1.7 Ohms Stat turned down TC-->T1 = 0.3 Ohms TC-->T2 = O/C At the temperature the stat thinks it is (at least), I think the stat looks OK. I tried and do a voltage check on...

    Heating wont turn off

Thank you for that. I am not sure you will believe what I am about to tell you. Programmer not calling for HW, cyl stat turned down. I remove the black cable to its own connector in the chock block (57v). I disconnected TC from the cyl stat itself and that shows 23v. From this I cant...

    Heating wont turn off

Many thanks twgas and D.Hailsham. I have just followed D.Hailsham's test guide and was confounded by the results to the very first test which shows 57v on cylinder stat T1 (black wire). This is with the stat turned down, which if I understand it correctly means that TC is connected to T2 and...

    Heating wont turn off

Thank you for that. I will give it a go this evening. The boiler is a GlowWorm Micron 60FF.

    Heating wont turn off

Thanks Mick for your reply. Although looking at the standard Y plan diagrams, if the cylinder stat is turned down, HWON (stat Common) gets connected to HWOFF (stat T2) - so HWON == HWOFF. If HWOFF=240v, then wont HWON also = 240v ? Thanks

    Heating wont turn off

Thanks for your reply. The cylinder stat is a Honeywell L1641A1039. The three lugs are wired as follows "C" Brown wire, connects to HWON terminal (no other wires) "2" Blue wire, connects to HWOFF terminal (with actuator grey) "1" Black wire, connects (with orange wire) to what...
