Vaillant. It’s been a stinker but I’m not alone. There are lots of posts on forums about them and I have found a lot of installers don’t recommend Vaillant. The Ecotec went through a very bad patch which they resolved but I would not touch another one.

Mine is in our garage and given we’ve had a number of water leaks (o rings, heat exchanger failure) I am so glad it is.

I use Sentinel x100 and add it through the Adey Magnaclean filter. Drain what’s in there with a tube. Add as most of the bottle and refit. Add the rest a day or two later.

I upgraded my old but reliable Gardiner alarm by using an Esp32 module and a Wi-Fi key switch. No maintenance costs and I get email notifications and access to my system via webpage.

Older network interface on the FTV? Cable/infrastructure issue? You need to compare like with like.

Is the RPI overkill for some of these projects? I like the considerably cheaper ESP32 (less than £10) for my home automation projects.

Gas engineers round here like Baxi for their reliability. At the moment when my Vaillant is replaced a Baxi is my likely replacement.

I once had a filler valve that had a leaky tap. I disconnected it and blanked it off using an old lock shield valve.
