Hyundai 5-in-1 HYMT5200X - hedge trimmer not cutting through hedge….

I have some seriously large laurel, fir and rhododendron bushes and hedges and use a similar tool to yours, but never had much luck with the hedge trimmer attachment. I just use the chainsaw attachment for everything.

Removed parquet floor, what do i do with smelly bitumen

I tried to get quotes to remove old Marley tiles and replace with modern vinyl tiles. The moment the tilers realised the Marley tiles were laid on bitumen they just didn't want to know. In the end I did it myself. The tiles came up easily and I then sealed the bitumen with SBR and used...

Maybe worth checking the evaporator isn't full of gunge as can happen.

    Can I replace this hose?

If you have visible water vapour swirling around the bottom of the boiler then it could be a leak from one of the water pipe connections.

    Cleansing limescale from shower screens?

If once you have got it clean you use a window squeegee to wipe it down after every shower then the problem should not re-occur.

You can modify a single base unit to accommodate a hob but not a straightforward job.

Water seeping through concrete kitchen floor

You would need to hire a qualified surveyor to decide what the problem is and who is responsible for fixing it. You would need the owners agreement for this and if unreasonably withheld then mediation maybe might be the next move.

Certain tools - do I need them?

A lot of the tools you buy these days are brilliant if you just want to hang them on a pegboard in the garage to impress the neighbours but a different matter if you actually try to use them.

    Shower screen seal

It's usually fitted to the screen on the other side (the wet side) to that shown in your photo and is a 'C' shaped translucent vertical nylon strip that sits between the fixed and moving parts of the screen. I haven't actually seen a seal a seal fitted where you you indicate in your photo.

Bath tap with 12 spline cartridge. want to change tap head

Best way is to use a vernier calliper to measure the dimensions of the old cartridge and compare that to the detailed dimensional sketches on cartridge manufacturers/sellers websites although getting a combination of the right number of splines and correct dimensions may not be possible.

Fence - remove neighbour's or not?

Responsibility for a boundary doesn't mean responsible for a fence that is erected on it. Generally a fence belongs to the person who paid for it but that doesn't impose any obligation on them to maintain it unless there is a specific covenant to that effect in the title.

    Ford service

Thanks for the replies. This wet belt thing is new to me and difficult to understand, from what I have read, how often it needs to be replaced. Anyone any idea what a sensible life expectancy would be for a wet belt fitted this 4 year old Fiesta Ecoboost with 10K on the clock?

Hi there Just a quick question here about Ford servicing. The missus has a FORD FIESTA TITANIUM ECOBOOST 100 that is coming up to 4 years old. It has 10,000 miles on the clock and is due a service. So a bit confused. On their website Ford talk about a choice of a 'scheduled service' or...

Do modern boilers heat the wall they are mounted on?

In the past I have used 10mm self adhesive sound insulation sheet for cars which reduced the heat transfer from the boiler into a cupboard.

Set TV to watch Freeview (& Other Free Channels) Only

One further observation that I would make is that even if you do not ever watch 'live to air' you are still at risk from TV licencing investigators. This is because their baseline assumption is that every house without a TV licence is watching TV illegally. Consequently they can misconstrue...

    Analogue or digital ?

I have had problems with cordless phone replacement batteries not performing well in the handset. Replacing them with batteries specifically described as for use with cordless phones fixed the problem. I don't know why that should be the case but it worked for me.

Set TV to watch Freeview (& Other Free Channels) Only

Whilst TV licencing have in the past gained convictions simply because someone's TV equipment could receive 'live to air', that is no longer the case. For example many people quite legally listen to radio on their TV set which requires the TV to receive 'live to air' transmissions via an...
