    65mm plasterboard. Is this possible?

Another interesting find in my weird and wacky mill conversion flat. The previous owner took down their tv bracket and I'm just getting round to replacing it. I've just checked the depth of the existing screw holes and they are about 65mm deep before I hit anything solid, which I assume is a...

    Fitting shower storage basket

I'm fitting a corner storage basket secured with screws in the shower. The instructions show silicone being used to maintain water tightness, but it's unclear if it goes into the screw hole before the plug, or around the rim of the inserted plug, or even into the plug itself. Any suggestions...

Tiny black flies on bathroom window

Can anyone identify this type of fly and advise on how to permanently get rid of them? They're about 2mm long, black or possibly very dark brown. They're appearing on the bathroom window in small numbers every day. They appear to be fixated by the window. If I flick one onto the sill they...

Washing machine drain hose siliconed into waste pipe. Why?

Am I right thinking this would need a small length of pipe between the trap outlet and the bend inlet???

Washing machine drain hose siliconed into waste pipe. Why?

Could I retro fit that? Presumably it would need an additional 90° bend down into the existing waste pipe.

Washing machine drain hose siliconed into waste pipe. Why?

Do you mean without the silicone? It's not there to prevent odours?

Washing machine drain hose siliconed into waste pipe. Why?

Any good reason why the drain hose would be siliconed into the waste pipe? If there is then is there a neater way to do it? For example, with an adaptor or similar.
