    Yes you need a proper meter, not too familiar with the model quoted, but has it got a digital clock ? I have had several ovens that switch the common neutral through the clock. Clock fails, so the oven and grill, will not power up.

    Therefore as its is 24v SELV, my interpretation of the Wiring Regs is, no earth connection is required. In any case there is no facility for a earth connection, the 24v is connected via a small jack plug.
