    Vauxhall Astra cutting out

It might sound daft but numerous electrical faults occur when the ignition coil pack is on the way out and once the coil pack is replaced the other problems disappear.

    Vauxhall Astra 2004 Semi-Auto Won't Start

Try replacing the ignition coil rail pack, this often causes starting problems and seems to fool the ECU into thinking there are gearbox problems. (The semi-automatic/tiptronic/easytronic is just a manual gearbox with an electronic gear selector bolted on top and that may be what confuses the ECU).

Does this symbol on fuel cap mean car is petrol engine

If it were a diesel then the vehicle name on the back would show a D to denote Diesel. For example Corsa CDi, if there is not a C then it is a petrol.

    WARNING - HMRC Rip-Off

The unfortunate thing about HMRC is that they work out of numerous offices throughout the country, they also have postal interceptors (Royal Mail Offices that collect all HMRC replies, irrespective of what office they are addressed to) but none of the offices communicate with each other. The...

    What Car is this ?

I can confirm it was built in 1903, because the world's oldest Vauxhall was sold at Bonhams in 2012 and that was registered in November 1903 and it's registration number was A 719, so A 718 would have been built and registered around the same date. The radiator shape is similar to the Talbot...

Some new cars have no spare wheel

First move away from a traditional spare wheel was the "Space Saver" skinny wheel, it didn't save space because they had to have a polystyrene base to fill the spare wheel well, but for the Car Manufacturers the "Space Saver" was cheaper and it reduced the vehicle weight and so slightly...

    Ford Mondeo

I'm not certain but I think the 2.2 uses a different gearbox, so check that out first. If that is the case then it would mean replacing both the engine and the gearbox, other than that there shouldn't be any real difference as the body shell and running gear is the same.

And what do you think the reason for hose-pipe bans is ? PVC Shortage ?

    2003 Vauxhall corsa 1.2 petrol won't go above 30mph

This problem is usually the Coil Pack, the EGR Valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) especially on the Twinport engines, the ECT Sensor (Engine Coolant Temperature) or the MAF Sensors (Mass Air Flow). Unfortunately all 4 of these can throw up similar fault codes and usually means having to...

Vauxhall Astra 1.3 CDTi ecoFLEX 16v Exclusiv

The fuel sender unit and fuel filter are a single sealed unit attached to the fuel tank and is quite an expensive unit and I'm sure the tank requires removal to gain access to it.

    Diagnostics with a difference!

From about the 2000 model year most Vauxhall's Engine Management System's faults can be accessed by using the "Pedal Method" which is done by pressing the accelerator pedal and brake pedal to the floor and then turning the ignition key to the "On" position (not as far as turning the engine over)...

    Tidal energy on its way.

Something that really bugs me is the Wind Turbines scattered all over the Country spoiling country and coastal views, when it has been proven that they are not financially viable. As for those turbine built at sea....WHY ? We are a small country surrounded by sea and therefore surrounded by...

We Need These Signs On Our Motorways!

We had a decent Rail System, road transport was and still is cheaper and that is why Beeching decimated what was a decent Rail System, just as the railways killed off the Canal System.

We Need These Signs On Our Motorways!

When the lorries are all gone you will not be left with any cars either or people for that matter. Where and how are you going to supply all the manufacturers that produce the cars and other consumer goods ? Where and how are you going to get the food and drink that you require to sustain life...

We Need These Signs On Our Motorways!

Absolutely Correct JBR Unfortunately "Common Sense" is probably the rarest commodity in the World today !! I have also found the lane hoggers also tend to be the Mobile Phone Users as well, so not much chance of them ever changing their selfish ways. They always argue about the "speeders" and...

We Need These Signs On Our Motorways!

Because it is the Law, the middle and outside lanes are overtaking lanes. You are supposed to drive on the inside lane unless you are overtaking, having done so you should pull back into the inside lane when safe to do so. Believing that someone who passes you is speeding and so breaking the...
