    Immersion heaters tripping

only when it was installed earier this year. at that time only the day immersion heater was working so I wonder if having both immersion heaters connected is causing the trip as the night immersion may be working as well even though it is only meant to come on at night.

    Immersion heaters tripping

yes, you could only test the night time one at night as there is no power to it. the day time one (24 hour) trips at any time it is switched on as the power to it is constant. power supply to the flat between 11.30pm and 6.30am is on the lower rate cost as far as i understand. before dynorod...

    Immersion heaters tripping

no, the dynorod guy only fitted the immersion heaters as I have a policy with them and so that covers only the immersion heaters and no fixed wiring, which was why I had to employ a separate electrician to test the wiring when the newly installed immersion heaters tripped.

    Immersion heaters tripping

If NICEIC registered as approved contractor and domestic installer can't be relied upon then not sure how else you are supposed to verify a company's competence. I would expect they can still be incompetent, but I would hope NICEIC do checks on electricians before approving them!

then i don't know. i know there are two switches on the consumer unit for the immersion heaters, which i assume are what you guys refer to as MCB and the main switch on the consumer unit, which I understand is called the main RCD. i don't know if the MCB are RCBOs. the consumer unit was...

    Immersion heaters tripping

    Immersion heaters tripping

the electrician did not say the immersion heaters were incorrectly connected. he said there was a loose wire, which he tightened but that was not the cause of the tripping. i think he would have known if the connection was not done correctly and have reconnected it.

    Immersion heaters tripping

i think it is vented. i don't have a current pic but this is an old pic yes vented and unvented. the vented ones get the water from a cold water tank and the unvented ones get water directly from the mains. i don't think the difference would have any signifance on my problem though?

    Immersion heaters tripping

it just seems odd that both immersion heaters would be faulty. as they are wired individually, they can be tested individually and they are both tripping the RCD when they are switched on individually. the dynorod plumber says they are brand new as i suspected he may have used second hand ones...

    Immersion heaters tripping

as mentioned above because there was no hot water from the tank and so dynorod said the immersion heaters were broke. at that time, there was no tripping of the RCD, there was just no hot water. dynorod replaced the two immersion heaters and could not turn them on as the RCD tripped. so I got...
