You’re not using a lubricant on the spigot, are you? Pretty sure those connectors are meant to go on “dry”. I once put washing-up liquid on a WC spigot before fitting the connector, and there was no way I could get it to seal.

Many thanks. I was quoted 2.5k by a garage roof specialist last year for stripping and disposing of the asbestos, then re-covering with metal and a condensation barrier. I guess OSB and felt is an option, but maybe I should just save up.

Yes, I get that. The job will be onerous because of the need to either move or put dust sheets over a fair amount of stuff, and it could be wasted time and effort if we do get the roof replaced in the next couple of years. Food for thought which I’ll take on board.

Tricky because they’re cable-tied along the mid line of the metal brackets that I want to paint. Only solution appears to be removal, sadly.

I’ve just read somewhere else that oil based paints can damage PVC cable sheathing, so I’ll remove the cables from the roof supports before I paint. Unless, that is I can buy water-based “direct to rust” spray paint.
