Defrost cycle - over 10 Celcius?

My fridge has just reached 10 Celcius as part of its defrost cycle - it's occasionally gone through phases before where it's sometimes reached 8 or 9 but 10 is a new record and it's not THAT warm in my kitchen (24 C which it's often reached of late). As I type this I hear the compressor has just...

How to seal a crack in a metal milk churn?

Thanks, I've decided to go for this - JB Weld JB8277 Waterweld As you state, it's safe for use with potable water, so my dogs will be happy to be able to drink out of their favourite container again. :) Thanks to everyone else for their suggestions as well.

How to seal a crack in a metal milk churn?

Thanks, a nice idea but just checked and it's not food safe. I'm now thinking of food grade silicone sealant, but it seems a bit expensive to buy a tube of it costing about 9 quid when I only need a very tiny amount.

How to seal a crack in a metal milk churn?

I have an old, small metal milk churn (must be about 16" high, about 10" diameter at its widest point). It's filled with water and the dog drinks from it. However, the churn has sprung a leak - there's a small crack that's about half an inch long - the leak has been intermittent because there's...

Generator - how do I go about getting an assessment of my requirements and generator location?

I"m still pondering whether to get a generator (for emergency use only) but I'd like to get an expert (not some glorified sales person) to visit my property and so get some good, unbiased advice and recommendations as to the type that's suitable for me and where to place it. I have an old, very...

Danesmoor 15/19 oil boiler - trying to find the power consumption

Have looked in the manual and online but so far can only see the heating related output, but what is the electric power consumption likely to be?

    Waste water pipe - 37mm ?

Thanks all, yes it's plastic. Seems like the closest is 36mm. It's not glued anywhere, just a push fit. It's about 25 years old. Can't seem to find a 3m length of that anywhere. I suppose I could make an adapter, therefore remove the existing 36mm pipe, get a 3m length of 40mm pipe, cut off...

    Waste water pipe - 37mm ?

I need to replace a 3m length of waste water pipe (it takes water from the shower) but the outside diameter of my outdoors pipe seems to be 37mm. Yet I can't find 37mm online ....... is that not made any more?

Oil boiler switching itself on and off at random intervals

This started happening a few days ago, it's random - boiler switches on for a while and then switches off, even though the timer hasn't kicked in. Timer lights are NOT on when this happens. Timer issue perhaps? Or something else? The boiler is a Danesmoor 15/19

Thanks a lot, that's very helpful - I'll study that and have another look tomorrow and report back here. :)

UPVC door 'barn door window' not closing fully, need a new part?

One of my UPVC doors is over 20 years old, for years it's had a problem where the upper 'barn door window' doesn't 100% stay fully closed in one upper corner. The door also faces south and flexes a little in the heat of the sun which means that the severity of the problem varies. It's the type...

Rubber backed mat stability on carpet - how to prevent sliding and buckling?

I have some mats like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09S3NW4GR they are on carpet and of course slip, slide and buckle up a fair bit. What's the best way to prevent this? Some suitable double sided carpet tape, or is there anything better? Does anyone have any particular recommendations?

Shower room extractor fan - Part 2 (the saga continues after a new fan is installed)

Prior to me bridging L and L1 I've been looking at the wiring diagrams for the new fan (AXS100T). It's interesting to note that the other fan (the Remotely Switched AXS100, which I don't have), if wired up with double pole isolating switch, needs a fuse on the live connection. However with the...

Shower room extractor fan - Part 2 (the saga continues after a new fan is installed)

On the other hand my wife thinks that when the original fan used to be turning on okay via the light switch it was also immediately turning off via the light switch (so no timer operation). She could well be correct ......... (she used the shower room a lot more than me, I've always preferred to...
