Ok thanks cause for the 1 bedroom it will be downlighters so i can just put all that in a junction box and then bring the feed to first down lighter onto next and next in a daisy chain

Thats a very good point as amatuer i would say the red is the live and the black neutral wire is being used as switched live but yeah as you point out its not its a black switch wire and thats it

So if i swap the twin and earth drop thats currently there which is a (live and neutral being using as a switch live , for 3 core and earth where do i go from there

Also yeah the cable is pritty old and its on a old board but for now it really is going to have to do with the small upgrades then it will be getting someone in to do the main work at the board and such
