    A waste of life

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy026x9jpd0o Just one million of them, one in six according to the government broadcaster. Very bad, and getting rapidly worse.

    A waste of life

Given that we have mass youth unemployment and declining industry across almost all sectors, can anyone explain why it's a good idea to welcome 100,000s per year of unskilled young migrants? In the past we specifically allowed and encouraged immigration while we had lots of heavy industries...

    A waste of life

True. I watch lots on YouTube. There are people I watch, who produce documentaries single-handedly that are as good as a TV channel or possibly better. You can see from the number of views that they're doing what they enjoy and making pretty decent money, as 1000 views is roughly £1. So...

"The Guardian" "Carol Vorderman" That's two squares on my lefty bingo card. Will I get to shout "house" if I actually read that garbage?

    Cracking idea, or crackers.

It looks like the (most recent) movement is horizontal only, so hopefully not the end of the world. I once viewed a bungalow where two corners had fallen downwards. I would normally steer clear of rendered, but who can't resist a bargain. Render is inevitable in some coastal locations, just...

preventing a shed base from rotting, engineering bricks ?

I think the bricks will shatter on edge like that. It will inevitably sit on several points on the bumpy surface of the slab beneath, which will be the equivalent of chisels when you stand on top.

How to repair the decking and supporting posts?

Have you seen your own photos? It looks like it's completely crumbling - the whole lot, not just the decking. But you can judge best. Wood has a lifespan, in the UK probably 10-20 years. Beyond that it's compost. Obviously you have to pay money if you won't DIY. But many seem to think that...

    A waste of life

When I graduated with an engineering degree then got a bit of work experience I could pick and choose jobs. Then everything changed, from the early 2000s manufacturing just steadily vapourised. I was head-hunted for one job, where the role was to go and work for a UK manufacturer on a very...

House price gravy train may have hit the buffers

That argument is a lot of a stretch! Generally high housing costs are just a drain on an economy. The money obtained from selling an elderly person's valuable house ultimately comes from someone else buying it - they will probably have to take out a massive loan with big repayments that will...

If you're going to throw random offensive insults at anyone who disagrees with you then at least spell them right. Or are you deliberately circumventing the forum's offensive word checking?

My understanding is that he wasn't a paid politician at the time, so it's not in the public interest. Anyone working for a private company or running a business takes money from someone every day. It's all manufactured outrage, and it sounds like you've been taken in by it.

House price gravy train may have hit the buffers

It may be bad for the landlord and their one tenant if they sell that house. But it's good for everyone else. The house remains, someone will live in it and it added one house to the supply of houses for sale, which will nudge the market price downwards. This will lead to lower selling prices...

Ooh stroppy. Big bad attitude doesn't make up for being wrong though. It's a farm. On the edge of a village. Where people live. It's not open countryside. It's here... https://www.google.com/maps/@52.2536611,-2.8109911,2110m

    The Environment.

The wigglifying will be happening around open farmland. Not in towns or villages, where you want to let the stuff get out as easily as possible. They're introducing beavers in some places, to build dams and slow the rivers down. But not next to anyone's house.
