    Water marks in bedroom wall

Not condensation if the humidity is 30%. Have you looked outside when it's raining heavily? I've found all sorts of answers by doing this, anything could be happening. We have a gutter that's OK but is over-capacity. It's OK in light rain, it overflows in heavy rain as it's just taking too much.

House price gravy train may have hit the buffers

Some relatives who live nearby took us an a tour of "the potteries" a few years ago. We saw all the assorted demolition rubble-heaps, some had a factory shop next to the desolation where they sold assorted Chinese tat with their sticker on it. It's a desperate place.

The infamous "FOR"+ manufacturer + part

If HG 91 is a chain then it's not OK. If HG 91 is a crankset then it probably is OK. "For" means it's compatible with, it shouldn't be used to mean its a replacement for. But the Chinese sellers probably don't understand this distinction, or more likely don't care. Shimano could register...

...where you'll be on the dole. Or if you have a job elsewhere you'll need a car to get there. Which won't last long parked outside one of those houses.

House price gravy train may have hit the buffers

My hard-drinking, manual worker dad in a low-end job managed to fund buying a 3-bed semi in the 1970s as a first-time buyer. It had a driveway, a garage, front and back gardens. Not the best area but OK, we used to play out on the street with the other kids and didn't get murdered once. This...

House price gravy train may have hit the buffers

Could you give us a rough example - salary, area, house price? I wouldn't recommend buying a flat to anyone, I'd suggest a small freehold house as a starter, without any shared ownership rubbish.

The infamous "FOR"+ manufacturer + part

I keep being surprised by just how mundane some of the faked items are now. We all heard of fake Rolex watches. But now you can get fake Bosch car oil filter cartridges, while even the genuine ones are pocket money anyway. I don't want my £5000 engine to get ruined as a result of saving £3 on...

More people should move around the UK. We did, cashed in our house down south and moved up north. An excellent move, not regretted it at all and now live in a country mansion rather than a suburban shoebox. Perhaps there's even a case for the government to offer a bit of a subsidy for people...

It can. If you have an above-average job in a below-average area. Otherwise no.

    Brighton Bodies

Culture is a factor. There were some Indian-background families on a beach a few years ago playing cricket I think. The tide came in and a load of them drowned. Some just don't learn to swim. Some native white brits don't too, but they're an exception. It's valid to discuss it.

That's because we've remained in the ECHR and our politicians have been deliberately sabotaging the situation.

As I've already pointed out, casting doubt is not denying anything. I'm casting doubt on the sun coming out today, it doesn't mean I'm denying that the weather exists. I don't take any notice of lefties banging on about anyone who they say is "far-right", as that often just means a non-lefty...

The infamous "FOR"+ manufacturer + part

It's a legal loophole/exclusion that's allowed. The first time I encountered it was years ago when selling non-genuine (very good quality) toner cartridges to fit HP laser printers, at a much lower price than HP ones. My listing was taken down after a request from HP. I contacted them...

There will be a specific issue, probably ground rent or maintenance charges make them worthless, as you'll need to pay the equivalent of rent to live there after buying the lease.

House price gravy train may have hit the buffers

Every generation has always wasted some of their money on tat, it's nothing new. Cars, holidays, hi-fi, whatever. The difference for many young people, especially in some parts of the UK, is that the first rung of the ladder is so far above their heads that it's not worth bothering to try and...

I doubt he breaks any forum rules. Really disruptive, but not actually doing anything wrong. Being this annoying and getting away with it takes skill and precision.

Because not doing annoys you? I don't think I've ever read anything posted by Ree that was correct, helpful or didn't completely derail the thread.
