Naive question about raising floor level

I will be as careful as I can be, I have no idea where they are. Will just play it safe and be very cautious when screwing. What is the normal depth of chipboard flooring in a late 1990s house?

Naive question about raising floor level

I was asking for that . I just wasn't sure if screws just into the chipboard sub floor would be enough and I may need adhesive as well. What sort of distance apart should the screws be please?

The LVT Click flooring I have specifically says not to use an underlay (this was also re-advised by the shop floor worker when purchasing it)

Naive question about raising floor level

Hi, I am currently part way through a renovation of a small downstairs WC. I have removed the old floor tiles (which were about 11mm with the adhesive) and will be laying some LVT planks which are only 5mm. I need to make up the remaining 6mm so it doesn't look like a big step down from the...

Best way to seal/waterproof wood tiles for use behind wash basin

Hi, I have some nice wood tiles left over from a bedroom project that I would like to fit on a small wall behind a wash hand basin in a downstairs toilet. I am a bit worried that if I don't waterproof/seal them they are going to get damaged from the splashes from the basin. What would be the...

Options for running kitchen extractor outside

Do you think cutting a hole in the corner or the unit (and having to remove part of the top and side of the unit to run the vent pipe will effect the integrity of the unit?)

Options for running kitchen extractor outside

There is a 20mm gap between the side of the cabinet and the wall (you can't see this from the front view as there is trim covering the gap). The image below shows the gap at the side of the cabinet a d the thin piece of wood covering the external wall hole for the old vent. Even if I was able...

Options for running kitchen extractor outside

That's not the issue, the issue is how I get it through the side of the cabinet and use the existing hole in the external wall.

Options for running kitchen extractor outside

No, that was actually a screw I put through to see where exactly in the existing hole in the external wall it would pop out so I knew roughly where I would need to cut in the cupboard side . It's not doing anything other than acting as a marker.

Options for running kitchen extractor outside

Hi all, In the house I moved into the extractor fan in the kitchen just pumps the air out of the top of the cabinet. I am finding it doesn't do a good enough job and leaves the kitchen too stinky (I have changed the charcoal filter and it doesn't help much). I have checked and the extractor...

Cracked roof tile (doesn't appear to be leaking) - can I repair with sealant?

Hi all, Whilst looking out the window at the crazy rain yesterday I noticed a cracked roof tile. There doesn't appear to be any sign of a leak and the crack doesn't look particularly new. Is it possible to seal this myself somehow to avoid future possibile problems? Or do I need to get the...

    Broken brick - how/should I fix this?

Hello, I recently had Openreach install Fibre to my house. I've just noticed that they have damaged a brick where they have terminated it at the house. It looks like a whole chunk has come away and is just sitting loose in there. Do I need to worry about fixing this? If yes, what product can...

Advice regarding insulating loft above integrated garage conversion

Hi all, I moved into a 25 year old house a couple of years ago and am thinking about future improvements I can make. The house originally had an integrated double garage. This has been converted to a single garage, and a dining room (which we rarely use in the winter for reasons that will...
