Leaky towel radiator - how do I fix?

Thanks for the link. That valve looks like a direct replacement so if I need to do that, it should hopefully do the job. The CH is turned off at the moment and the towel rail still gets warm so it must be running off the HW right? How would I go about taking the head off the valve? Would I...

Leaky towel radiator - how do I fix?

Hi all, I had a bathroom installed a few years ago which included a towel rail/radiator. When you turn the valve to increase/decrease the heat a small amount of water will spill out quickly and then it will drip consistently. In order to stop it dripping there are a few 'sweet spots' on the...

Drayton TRV4 Snapped off - Any clues?

The head came with nothing else. See photo: IMG_20191231_123816 by mjgreen81 posted 31 Dec 2019 at 12:43 PM I simply needed to unscrew the old silver ring, screw on the new head (setting to max heat to make it easier) and job done! Took 5 minutes. IMG_20191231_123828 by mjgreen81 posted 31...

Drayton TRV4 Snapped off - Any clues?

Look like Toolstation sell the head on its own. I have mine arriving today. If it works ok, I'll replace the other broken ones in my house. https://www.toolstation.com/drayton-trv4-classic/p39498

Drayton TRV4 Snapped off - Any clues?

I have the exact same thing in my house. I have no less than 3 of these Drayton TRVs in exactly the same condition. 2 of them have been broken for a couple of years but are in rooms where I don't need to adjust the temperature. I just went to fiddle with the one in the bedroom which broke...

Downstairs bathroom sometimes smells after flushing (Durgo Valve?)

Thank you all for your advice, you have really helped me to understand the situation and the cause of the issue. It sounds like my bathroom installer screwed up by removing my vent out of the roof and replacing with the AAV. Sadly, I am not surprised by this :( Will have to have a think what...

Downstairs bathroom sometimes smells after flushing (Durgo Valve?)

I am just trying to read up on this. I am seeing mixed opinion about whether just having durgo's is OK or whether you still need a soil pipe exiting to the atmosphere. Feeling a bit confused!

Downstairs bathroom sometimes smells after flushing (Durgo Valve?)

Clean the bathroom? huh?:LOL: No seriously, over the course of one evening (with no cleaning going on or water going down the shower drain) it can be fine one minute, then following a flush you go back into the bathroom a few minutes later and there is the smell. Then an hour later...

Downstairs bathroom sometimes smells after flushing (Durgo Valve?)

I guess its possible as it has not been used for a long while. I am just surprised that the smell seems to come and go if this was the cause I will certainly try that as my first step...

Downstairs bathroom sometimes smells after flushing (Durgo Valve?)

Hi all, We have a downstairs bathroom with toilet, basin and shower. The toilet is fitted with a Durgo valve. The downstairs bathroom is an extension to the house which was fitted probably 15-20 years ago. We have noticed over the last few months that sometimes a foul smell (its not me...

Neff b45e52 Oven went bang - anything I can do?

No multi meter, however.... Decided to leave it powered off for an hour or so this morning, just in case something internally reset. The above may or may not be related. I then decided just to start fiddling with the knobs to see if it does anything else at all and it fired up! Just testing...

Neff b45e52 Oven went bang - anything I can do?

Hi all, My Neff b45e52 Oven just went bang. I switched it on, the light briefly flashed on and then t went pop and tripped the breaker. After turning the breaker back on, I turned the oven back on and although I have power (the clock is on), it doesnt do anything else. I removed the bulb and...

Advice required for boarding out a loft (with down-lights)

After discovering that it looks like the 100mm x 47mm timber looks like it is only available for delivery (4 days) from B&Q, I think I might have answered my own question... I guess I could screw in a 50mm x 47mm timber to the original joist, and then screw in another 50mm x 47mm timber on top...

Advice required for boarding out a loft (with down-lights)

Thats great, thanks Deadbeat. I had another look up in the loft earlier and realised that there are already a few original 4" x 2" joists (not sure how I missed this) going at 90 degrees to the main joists which the ceiling is attached to. I presume they are there for the extra strength (there...

Advice required for boarding out a loft (with down-lights)

Thanks for your reply. Why do you say about fixing the new timber at 90degrees to the existing joists? Is this preferential to fixing them directly on top of the existing joists?
