Everyone please remember a puppy is NOT just for Christmas. With a little careful carving it'll do sandwiches on boxing day

    Why did I not die??

As Dave says above most of us have electric shocks at some time or another. I've had a few at voltages a lot higher than 240 before now. The severity of the shock depends on lots of factors including the path taken through the body to earth, how moist (sweaty) you skin is plus a whole lot more...

Why can't I extend my RGB LED strip? (weak trial connection?)

Same here. Replaced the lights in the back of my Transit with white LED tape around 2 years ago and they still work fine.

Sharp R959SLMAA combination oven dead or not?

It looks like a V3 micro switch. Available from any good parts suppliers such as RS or Maplin (spit!!). The 16(3)A normally refers to the max current either resistive (16A) or inductive (3A) at 250V

    Acorns! loads of 'em!

There's a lot of oaks where I walk my dog and yes, there does seem to be a lot more this year than last. Totaly confuses my springer. He's bouncing around looking for them as they fall. I'm in S.Wales.

Hoover Fridge Freezer - 14 months old, completely stopped working

Does it have an internal fuse? The plug fuse is just there to protect the cable. My own fridge/freezer has another fuse at the connector block where the cable enters the casing (back bottom corner). Not the same make/model as yours but worth a look.

    Indesit widl126 flashes

An update. After a bit of a search on the net I found loads of error codes but none matched what I had. Finally I found the same flashes that I had and it stated that the main module was dead. With nothing to loose I took it out and took a look. One of the caps was bulging so a quick 24 mile...

    Indesit widl126 flashes

I've just got home from 2 weeks working away (complete with 2 weeks washing) to find the wife has broken the washing machine. Well, I'll blame her even though it was probably nothing to do with her. If I plug the unit in I get all the top row of lights flashing (4 green and 1 red) plus the...

    Old Vauxhall Cresta.

I've got a fine example of the slant engine parked on my drive. It's the 2.3l version in the front of a Bedford CF (1984 facelift).

Hinkley Point C - C stands for CON

He's explained it enough times and shown you the charts. It just seems that you either don't want to understand them or are incapable of understanding them

Hinkley Point C - C stands for CON

For base load (taking nukes out of the equation) the cheapest would probably be CCGT. They are (compared to nukes) cheap, quick to build and efficient but we are then totally reliant on other countries for the fuel plus we are still burning fossil fuel.

Hinkley Point C - C stands for CON

I'll just repeat what I posted in the post above yours! Obviously there is tidal movement around the coast constantly BUT there will be slack times at barrages where that barrage will NOT be able to provide base load.

Hinkley Point C - C stands for CON

Obviously there is tidal movement around the coast constantly BUT there will be slack times at barrages where that barrage will NOT be able to provide base load. There would have to be many barrages spread around the coast to be able to cope. For a constant base load the best way is a nuke!

Hinkley Point C - C stands for CON

The only real viable alternative to nuclear is to build more CCGT sites. Renewables (solar & wind) are NOT a viable alternative. We already have small diesel generator sets scattered around the country which put out more pollution (and which are subsidised). We struggled to meet demand last...
