That's too sexist now. You've got to use the phrase 'It's gone chest skywards'

Probably not. I bet he doesn't drive a Transit Custom either. Hmmmm.....I'm starting to feel sorry for him ;-)

    Sharing birthdays

I share my birthday with John Francis Bongiovi, Jr. Born the same day, same year. He's slightly better known than me - Jon Bon Jovi. I sometimes look at the life he's had and compare it with mine. Would I swap? Too bloody right I would!

    Polystyrene backed lining paper

The stuff I'm using is sold in B&Q, Red Label insulating lining paper. 4mm polystyrene with a 'reinforced lining paper' on one side. It's a real pain in the a*se to put up but the finish is a lot better than the wall. It did crease in a couple of places but nothing a little filler won't put right.

    Polystyrene backed lining paper

I'm in the process of re-decorating. Wife wants polystyrene lining paper stuck on the walls before the new paper (who am I to argue!). It's an exterior wall, '70s build, and always feels cold to the touch. The lining paper is the type that B&Q sell and has polystyrene one side with a paper...

    VAG-COM or VCDS

Try VCDS-LITE. It's shareware and you can try a lot of the options before you have to decide if you want to register or not. I found it very useful when I had my A4 Avant 2.5tds. You can get a copy from http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/index.html

    Transit van thieves

They only show the Mk1 diesel. The petrol version had a different front end. Hmmm....they days when you could buy a petrol van..... I prefered the Bedford CF.

    Transit van thieves

My works van ('65 Transit Custom) has had the side and rear door handles disconnected and security locks added. To get into the back you unlock with the remote then open the door using the key. It's great until you accidentely lock your keys in the back.

    Kudox radiators, never again

    There's someone who has died?

    Kudox radiators, never again

The screwdriver I used was one of those 50p (maybe 75p) ones from B&Q. You've probably seen the ones. There are two types, Red handle with flat blade, blue handle for cross head. No need for anything better. Get the flat blade one. Just stick it in the slot and hit it with a hammer then twist.

    Kudox radiators, never again

I've fitted two in the last week. As someone else has said, just stick a big screwdriver in the end, welt it a couple of times with a hammer (the screwdriver, not the rad :ROFLMAO: ) then twist. No problem :D

    Solar Panels

Over long term yes, profits would be greater with a newer CCGT with much higher efficiency BUT the coal sites are still very profitable. It makes more sense to continue running profitable coal sites while newer CCGT sites are built. There would still be an ongoing income from coal until the CCGT...

    Solar Panels

If the power station is making a profit then why would the generating company want to shut it down? EDF seem to be happy to keep coal running for as long as possible. West Burton have just spent out to replace a generator transformer that 'turned up it's toes' (not a recognised phrase for a fail...

    Solar Panels

As far as I am aware the main reason solar isn't listed is because it's usually fed direct into DNOs and not fed into the Grid. The Gridwatch site shows info on NationalGrid and not the individual DNOs

    Solar Panels

The sheep are very useful. If they didn't graze, the shrubbery would have to be manually cut to stop it interfering with the panels. Having said that the sites I worked on probably spend more time down due to the poor quality of the inverters. I won't say what make they are but it's a well known...

Sheep were in England. Also worked at wind farms with cows wandering around. That was 'oop norf'.

Not sure about that as I have personal experience of being surrounded by sheep on more than one occasion while working at large solar farms.

    Imperial to metric radiator swap

Well, I got the 900x500 rad changed today. As expected things didn't go exactly to plan but not too bad. One valve was passing slightly but nothing a rag shoved in the hole couldn't cure. Whoever fitted it did a bodge job though. One valve was metric, one imperial so had to use one of the old...

    Imperial to metric radiator swap

I was looking in Screwfix for rads and they don't list 1500. I'll have a look elsewhere for 1500. If I use a 1500 what extension would you recommend? The same one I listed?
