    Dimplex electric fire motors

Just an update re the replacement motor. Had to adjust screw holes to fix motor in place but it’s working and is very quiet. Kept it running continuously for 2 hours and motor seemed to get very warm. But then again all motors get warm when running this long, don’t they

    Dimplex electric fire motors

Not sure how to give you a link, but it is a Akozon Synchronus motor and it’s just under £9. I haven’t got it yet so I am not sure if it will fit the bill but at that price it a gamble worth taking.Certainly won’t be spending £80 on the Dimplex one.

    Dimplex electric fire motors

Decided to change noisy and annoying motor on electric fire. On looking for replacement direct from dimplex, I find they cost in the region of £80. After a search I have found replacements on Amazon for around £12, they fit all the technical requirements. Has anybody had any experience of these...

    Is this normal Electrical hazard

In this instance the manufacturer has sold a product which is unsafe by virtue of the defective plug. If this was a one off OK, but we know that it happened before, Your response was to put the onus on the buyer who is/was at fault. I don't see you putting any blame on the manufacturer for the...

Agreed buts that's not a reason for not trying.

    Is this normal Electrical hazard

Are you a bloody politician, why are you protecting the manufacturer. there are probably more houses with unswitched sockets than switched ones. Would you be saying the same if a young child managed to pull the front off a plug. It's the manufacturers responsibility to cover every foreseeable...

    Is this normal Electrical hazard

Sorry I should have attached this. its a review on the same item on Amazon. Surely a decent company would have taken steps to correct the problem immediately it came to light. Dangerous plug By Don Ross on Jul 28, 2019 Good product but very dangerously fitted plug! After first use the back of...

We were obviously not the only one, the company knew about this at least 1 year ago

    Is this normal Electrical hazard

And your point being! For the record our plug was a switched one and yes with hindsight it should have been switched off before removing the plug. 6 months ago the same plug was not a switched one and it was only changed due to a kitchen refurb. Many people are not fortunate enough to be able to...

    Is this normal Electrical hazard

Good point, I thought all new products came with moulded plugs. I certainly did not put this plug on and if you look closely you will see that it looks like it was factory fitted. I have checked on the Internet regarding this particular iron and nowhere does it mention a moulded plug. It...

Thanks Conny I didn't realise about the delayed reaction but I will keep an eye on her, but as she was an SRN they tend to take things in there stride. The iron is only about 6 months old.

    Is this normal Electrical hazard

How about this, my wife just finished the ironing and pulled the plug from the socket. Instead of the plug coming out , just the front came off exposing all the wires in the plug. In the course of pulling the plug out she must have touched the live wires and received an electrical shock...

    External floodlight

On another point how do you get the passive off from the front of the junction box without smashing it off. There doesn't seem to be any screws holding it on.

    External floodlight

We think the stand alone passive was to catch somebody at the rear of the house. Bit pointless as the flood wouldn’t light up the rear garden.

Sorry I should have said consumer unit tripping, old light never worked. My sons house and he only moved in about 6 months ago. On second thoughts maybe old light was OK and it was just a blown fuse. Cable to light is round white 5 inserts

Started to change old light for new and what should have been hours job as turned into a nightmare .Existing cable has what appears to be 2 earths and a live and a neutral which were connected to old fitting. I crimped the 2 earths and connected to new fitting and switched power back on and the...
