If its new then the texture should go outside so the coated low E plain glass is the right way round. Older, non low E type glass units were installed with the texture inside.

I've found your post later on about the beads being external, did you remove any wedge gasket from inside?

If your having trouble I'd go and get another hammer, pref a white rubber one, that way you may save breaking the glass if you miss the bead.

Is it single leg bead or shuffle bead? Single (as the name implies) has one bit of plastic that needs to fit in a groove, the shuffle has an 'L' shape that needs to fit between two points, ans is much harder to get in.

To sponge or not comes down to two things, time and money.. If somebody was paying me a day rate of 200 a day I'd float to a polish! On the other hand if somebody was taking the pi55 I would get it flat enough as I laid it on and then sponge it, job done and I'm home for tea.
