    Easycare Batroom

Easycare is a durable emulsion not a standard vinyl matt . Durables don't like dry surfaces so easier to use a primer or sealer applied first allowing the resins to rest and settle Vs getting the water pulled out causing them to thicken up on surface. Also durables can skin over and get a bit...

    Odd water pipe behaviour

50s and 60s build and maybe a copper pipe. Called soft copper Vs standard 15mm. It's bendy. They can rub stones with ground movement causing burst pipe as a few of my neighbours has had that. Just sounds like a air lock or some crud come through pipe from road works. We had that a few years...

Pressure reducing valve for incoming mains

£18 on Amazon for a cheap one. Think I'd stick with the branded. https://amzn.eu/d/0gpKJQxv I think some state 15mm as they come with a reducer. So will fit 22mm and 15mm. You need to study the advert as not always clear it seems

Shed on Stilts has sunk - how to Jack one side up 40mm?

I should of added. I wasn't convinced with the leaver idea the old boy suggested, but he said I'll be around later and we will move the shed if you have something to make a leaver. It moved easily. I was educated...

Pressure reducing valve for incoming mains

I'm not convinced pressure reducing valve will work. I suppose it's worth a punt. I see one at Screwfix (4671J)

Shed on Stilts has sunk - how to Jack one side up 40mm?

Archimedes famously stated, "Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world" So you won't have a problem lifting it

Shed on Stilts has sunk - how to Jack one side up 40mm?

Put a slab of plank on the ground and a car jack. You can also use levers. I moved a 12 foot by 6 foot shed with my 80 year old neighbour about 6 foot with some wood to make a leaver.

Shed on Stilts has sunk - how to Jack one side up 40mm?

Get yourself a cheap laser level and jack up. You can pack out posts with roof slate and edging stones. You thinking of adding more posts?

Pressure reducing valve for incoming mains

Have you contacted the water company? My local company asks people to report high pressure as I believe if it's on many houses or high enough to cause damage they will do something about it.

Google Nest Mini fault with radio 4 and radio 4 extra repeating sentence?

Just looked online. As of early May 2026, there is a known, widespread issue affecting BBC Radio streams on Google Nest devices, causing them to cut out, loop, or fail to buffer properly. This is an issue currently being investigated by Google and the BBC, rather than a fault with your specific...

Timber Garden Room Height Off Existing Ground

It's only a timber garden room. Not driving cars on it. 80 to 100mm of type 1 and 75 mm of concrete is fine. 50mm off the ground. That's my opinion.. Clay is wet and stinky. Just how it is and in summer we get cracks. You just need to get the top off and put type 1 down.

Fill gaps around pipes in the floor

Not very tidy that. Think I would buy some spiral cable tidy sleeve and use on cables. You don't want them sitting against pipes. You also need some pipe lagging insulation especially around the floor area so if you fill in floor the pipes will have some give. I think i would use the cable...

Yeah. Peel stop is a sealer. Get that on then fill and sand to make smooth

    Painting issue

Not much you can do. If you remove some paint then you have the leftover paint edges so it looks patchy. It's not easy or possible to blend that in. You can apply textured exterior wall covering to give it an even rough surface or a textured pattern look but the background needs to be solid...

Sand/cement or silicone render. What to do when the pros see it differently

Silicone needs washing over every 10 years but is breathable. Also different colours. Sand and cement it's tried and tested but does have it's problems. It's just different options. You just need to decide what's best for you.
