    Compression fitting question

Sounds more like a cone fitting, rather than an olive that was used. Pics would be interesting .

    Compression fitting question

You could check tomorrow how well the olive sits on the pipe by undoing the compression fitting, and try to knock it off the pipe . Rapping a spanner against the nut onto the olive. If it slides off the pipe easily it's a weak joint.

    Compression fitting question

I assume the pipe is under mains pressure ? If it is, close your stopcock overnight if you are concerned. It sounds like you didn't tighten up enough when it blew apart. Old imperial copper is thicker walled and often harder too. You therefore need to tighten up the compression fitting quite a...

    Compression fitting question

15mm olive should work perfectly well on 1/2 inch pipe. However a 3/4 olive would be needed on 3/4 pipe ,22 mm olive would not work.

    Rust coloured leak from radiator

Looks like at the very least need to strip out the radiators bleed valve ,and valve tails and re dress the radiator. If finances allow ,consider a new radiator and valves.

Waste pipes from washing machine leaking

The condition of the pipe/ pipe ends must be in good condition ,no scratches on the pipe circumference, and pipe end should be smooth and free of burrs. Lubricant would ease assembly.

    Rust coloured leak from radiator

As well as the points noted above ,there also appears to be staining on the end panel of the radiator. The bleed valve ( or blanking cap ) at the top of the rad may be leaking.

Use the drain cock on the cold feed.

    Emptying unvented cylinder

The internal silver pipe would allow complete draining of the cylinder.

Best way to fix this weeping heating pipe soldered corner join

That joint is soldered to the pipework. System needs to be drained ,the joint removed and a new one soldered on. If that is not something you can do call a plumber.

    Bath surround

Crackpot idea in my opinion. Surely moving the bath and have it re sited on the new tiles would be the thing to do.

    Basin waste

Not sure what you are trying to explain. The silver part above the basin ,and the silver part below the basin are all part of the same waste assembly,as are the silver rods and linking parts. The whole lot are a set. Does that clarify things for you ?

    Basin waste

What overflow fitting are you referring to ? By the way the blue seal on the waste pipe is fitted back to front . You wouldn't need any other "kit" to fit the replacement waste.

    Bath surround

Do you mean " box in" the area below the bath ? That would rather defeat the point of having a free standing bath wouldn't it ?

Mixer tap only having cold supply for now

It should be ok for a short while, day or two. Longer than that I would connect both to cold supply.

No heat ! Grant boiler low pressure - will not fire

Doubt it . Anyone's guess why it's stuck. Replacement required. If your desperate to get heating/ hot water it may be possible to back fill.

No heat ! Grant boiler low pressure - will not fire

The top valve is a check valve ( one way flow only), and it's jammed / stuck closed .
