    Oven wiring question

Yes my old belling was a much better terminal box. This one you have to tighten up really tight or the wires keep pulling out.

    Oven wiring question

Thanks both of you. Think I will go either side of screw with copper cores so that it clamps down better using existing cable if that's acceptable.

    Oven wiring question

Just bought a new belling oven. It's a 12kw oven. We have a 6mm T+E cable feeding the old oven but the new oven says to use flexible cable. What cable would you use and what's the best way to connect to the terminal, ring crimp or bend wire around screw.

Surveyors report - Roof structure Issue

The mortgage people have not made any mention of the roof work needing to be done as part of the offer. My nephew tells me he doesn't want to argue with seller about it and so will just get it done himself when he has the cash.

    Cracked Brickwork above Kitchen window

As there is no lintel at present I assume there won't be a cavity tray. Does one need to be fitted as normally its also bedded into the block work which you can't do now. Plus is a metal or concrete lintel better to fit.

    Cracked Brickwork above Kitchen window

I would do it if I felt more confident about it, never put a lintel in before. Looks like the concensus here is not to let the owner do it, I think my nephew is leaning towards leaving it for time being until he has more funds unless the mortgage provider says it must be done. He also doesn't...

    Cracked Brickwork above Kitchen window

Thanks Ivor. My nephew won't have a lot of spare cash after sale as buying on his own which is why I was thinking of asking seller to sort it.

    Cracked Brickwork above Kitchen window

My nephew is purchasing a 1970/80s house of brick block construction and the surveyor has notice some cracking and loose brickwork above the kitchen window and has advised a lintel needs to be introduced. It looks like just two rows of bricks above the window are affected at present. Now i am...

Hi All, Hope I am posting this in the correct section. My nephew has just had a survey done on a 1970s/80s house he is purchasing, the house is of brick and block construction with a pitched roof of concrete roof tiles. In the report the following has been mentioned by the surveyor: 'In...
