Extension footing - how to make this look pleasant

So I’m looking to continue with this. All the crappy mortar is chipped off now leaving me with the bare footing My plan is to - sbr slurry to the bare brick - mortar mix, ratio TBD, to this area - smooth it out and make good. Intend to keep it breathable as it’s so low and it will get wet...

    Summerhouse drainage question

Thanks. I’ll have a mess around!

    Summerhouse drainage question

Cheers. I’ll get a tap or spout or something and fart about with washers. Could cut a hole, and then mount some firm plastic inside that hole with gasket sealant or similar so I have a flat mounting surface.

    Summerhouse drainage question

How did you connect your ‘overflow’ for your ‘leaky pipe’? Water butt I have is round (annoyingly). So it needs like a tap or outlet secured by washers either side..

    Summerhouse drainage question

Yeah that’s logically what I try and tell myself, but it’s it’s directed into one spot only and washes it away.. Overthinking it, I think directing the flow into the water butt, having an overflow into a pipe with holes over the ground for it to disperse slowly when full, sounds like a...

    Summerhouse drainage question

Thanks for the insights. I’ll have a think. I can always lay extra ‘just in case’ while the ground is up and then I have options..!

    Summerhouse drainage question

Good points on the maintenance. I’m mega scared of damage to house foundations and walls etc which is why I’m so ‘proactive’ on drainage..! But at 4m away from house and 2-3 from extension, a small trickle probably isn’t really going to make much difference.. I was thinking that I would...

    Summerhouse drainage question

Summerhouse not tall enough to make any sort of link to the existing guttering Thanks. I was thinking about something like that too.. adding an overflow pipe with holes along it to disperse the water out as it fills. Only issue is I have fence directly behind it (right of access), so I could...

    Summerhouse drainage question

Hi Planning on putting a summer house into a small garden. It will be approx 4m away from the house. Thinking of drainage for rainfall. I could let it drip onto the ground but don’t really fancy puddles during heavy rainfall. Was thinking of adding guttering and a water butt, water stored to...

Extension footing - how to make this look pleasant

Really don't want it that high. One side - the one I'm trying to tidy up -isn't having patio next to it, so I need to do something as it will be on display to some degree.

Extension footing - how to make this look pleasant

If I did that it would raise the ground level further towards the DPC - it would probably end about 1 inch below it at the house. I'm trying to keep it as low as possible Patio needs sub base; I could perhaps put a mortar bed onto this footing but again.. 50mm mortar + 20mm slab probably would...

Extension footing - how to make this look pleasant

Hi all I have an old extension, 60s house, 70s suspected extension. I think it is on a 'raft' foundation. You can easily dig under this 'footing' all around the extension and it isn't very deep. It's about a brick thick, and it starts one brick below the house DPC. I aim to do a patio around...

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

I haven’t updated this post as I haven’t been using it so much and was so annoyed with it. Had a power flush of the system, no difference. Some dads had their thermostats and lock shields the wrong way around, ie flow return. I’ve swapped those around to see if that helps. Then been advised to...

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

Unsure, perhaps getting caught somewhere, or some sort of reaction started in the system that generates a gas?

    Hardwood sleeper treatment

I’ve returned the hardwood and gone with uc4 incised sleepers. I’m going o set them on bed of gravel so water can drain out the bottom. Backfill with gravel for drainage. Damp proof membrane along the back at the top, above the gravel, with soil on top. Hoping it means less water gets only the...
