Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

Not a clue, this is what I’m going nuts! My personal suspicion - and last straw - is that the two drops of pipes form upstairs to downstairs are still original and have not been replaced. They’re approx 15 years old and not a professional install. So I’m thinking perhaps there is corrosion...

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

No drips whatsoever - no corrosion signs or water on wall. I never see pressure rise (aside from ever so slight when it’s running)

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

I’ve done this. Last five days. I don’t get any air from the rads in the traditional sense (ie water comes out of bleed valve straight away). But the heating performance is poor. Trickling noises, especially if I turn all thermostats off aside from LR and EXT - then it sounds like a waterfall.

The red I get the most fizzy water from varies. It has changed over the years. For a long while it was only BR. But more recently I’m having way more luck with B3. Thr fizzy air will shoot out like a rocket, you’ll hear whooshing and spitting. Sometimes it’s rhythmic, like whoosh trickle whoosh...

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

Hi Just about to start work so I’ll reply to all your points later. But I do have to bleed with the pump on. If I bleed with it off, I just get water out. Nice gentle trickle. If I bleed with it on, I get the fizzing and farting water. I would think perhaps this is water I’m introducing by the...

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

That’s a bit difficult to quantify, the speed at which it gets worse. During winter it’s usually only off during the day, overnight. It’s left unused over summer. I’ve ordered some Bluetooth heat sensors so I can measure how fast it heats rooms and get some data on the speeds for comparison...

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

For the first three of four years being here I didn’t really touch the system apart from running it so I know what the symptoms elevate to. The rads all jsut get lukewarm, they don’t really output any heat to be worth a damn. I’ll have the heating running all evening and need a jumper. Rooms...

Never heard of this before; at this point getting tempted to try anything so it could be worth a shot.

Here's a paintmash. Yellow is walls. Red line is the piping route, representing both supply and return - they run in a pair each way. This is simplified being 2D of course but the connections and their positions, ie which radiators they are between, is correct. The worst rads are usually B3...

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

The air is never ending. The air only is quite brief. The air im getting out is mixed into the water. water will spray out of the system when bleeding, and it will fizz and spit and fart. its like the air is in the water. No external pump. I think theres an expansion vessel in the combi? filling...

I’ve always had it since I’ve moved in, persistent across boiler and new rads. Only thing the same as original is run of piping from boiler to upstairs, and a drop from upstairs to downstairs. I’ll sketch something up soon and post it so you can see the layout.

How would running a lower temp help? It’s near max. I think they’re ok as the boiler was professionally installed and it’s been checked various times. I can triple check. It’s like the flow reduces. The rads will be hot to the touch but the rooms don’t really heat. Living room will struggle...

Sorry I didn’t see reply alerts for this. Doesn’t appear to cause any pop sounds if I try to light it. Had an adey test on the system and it showed no abnormalities, other than inhibitor being weak (since I’ve been having to bleed it so bloody much no doubt).

Installing Fence Panels Over a Step

Yes, it would be prefab panels. I want them to go between concrete posts so slot into place.

Installing Fence Panels Over a Step

All good advice here. I’ll certainly consider the battens on the rear of the fence. Perhaps add an additional one above my cut out to supplement any others. Arris rails look like the battens on the rear? I don’t really mind what’s in the rear of the fence. My assumption was it would be a...

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

Standard dull white Stelrad. One of them is a vertical Stelrad. This has never really caused an issue. When I wasn’t bleeding them regularly - or only letting out the initial blast of air and not getting fizzy water - one or two rads would be almost stone cold. The bottom of the rest would be...

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

I’ll try this again to confirm. Experience has told me that I simply don’t get anywhere doing it with it off. I might get a tiny blip of air but I then never get the ‘air inside water’ fizzing and spitting happening. If I don’t get that, nothing changes. When I get this fizzy air, I then get...

Central Heating Nightmare - Air in System Daily

Yes I’m a bit suspicious of this. My last thought is to replace the final bit of pipework running up from the boiler. I suspect it wasn’t a professional job. Everything else has been replaced - aside from one rad - so I can’t see how the cause could be elsewhere.
