HRM Wall Star - Has packed up mysteriously...

P.S - I don't have a pump, but the air bubble purged by itself through the pump (I guess this cant be good for the pump though!)

HRM Wall Star - Has packed up mysteriously...

Cheers very much, I just took the burner off, gave the photo cell a wipe, and while I was there I followed the manual and did the service procedure cleaning the combustion head and nozzle etc. She then fired up straight away and is running fine now. Hopefully this won't come back! Thanks...

HRM Wall Star - Has packed up mysteriously...

Further to that - I've just taken off the external boiler cover and noticed that there is a big air bubble in the supple pipe.......should I try to purge it out? (Note this is a wallstar - tank is below the level of the boiler....I thought that meant this boiler would 'suck' the oil...

HRM Wall Star - Has packed up mysteriously...

Morning all :) I've got a pretty fancy (I think) unvented CH/DHW system powered by a 2001 Oil-fired HRM Wallstar 15/19 Boiler. I've asked some separate questions about it in another thread, but now, much more urgently, the thing has stopped firing up! Some key facts: - There is no room...

Programming DHW/CH independantly on an old Honeywell & CH bypass (pics)

Cheers v much guys We're going to order the Pack 2, since I'd like a thermostat to keep a limit on rooms temps and save some economy. By the way - the boiler model is HRM Wallstar 15/19 with an EOGB Sterling 40 burner and Danfoss pump. As it happens, it packed up last night so I'm just about...

Tha ks very much for that, i'll give it a go. P.s I assume I leave the bypass valve alone?

Once again I thank you for your time. Regarding balancing - googling it, I just come up with a load of info on balancing radiators....rather than balancing DHW/CH, is this something I can DIY? The Sundial pack looks good, and the wife likes it. I'm happy with wiring so long as I don't need to...

Programming DHW/CH independantly on an old Honeywell & CH bypass (pics)

Hi again, Stem - thanks very much for taking the time there - very much appreciated :) Here are some photo's now. There are two, 2-port motorised valves which are both working (I can hear them operating when I operate the control). Below is a photo of the layout, showing the bypass valve to...

Programming DHW/CH independantly on an old Honeywell & CH bypass (pics)

Can anyone help? I just want to know if I can programme the DHW&CH independently with the a more modern unit, and that it'll fit the backplate. P.S - I can't find a thermostat anywhere in ym house....is this unusual? :D Tom

Programming DHW/CH independantly on an old Honeywell & CH bypass (pics)

Hello :D My Honeywell programme is one of these... I find it very annoying that it doesn't allow me to progamme the DWH and CH independently, i.e they both come on and turn off at the same time. I wouldn't be so bothered, expect that, when they are both one, the system seems to...

Unvented System - Groan/Water Hammer when opening hot faucet.

Hi again, Thanks v much for all the responses :) I just sat next to the cyl & EV while my wife operated the tap. It wasn't immediately obvious which the noise was coming from, but with one hand on each, I can certainly feel it coming from the EV, rather than the cyl. It was last 'serviced' in...

Unvented System - Groan/Water Hammer when opening hot faucet.

Sorry, I meant how can I confirm that its a pressure relief/cyl fault, rather than something like the inlet valve that the first poster mentioned?

Unvented System - Groan/Water Hammer when opening hot faucet.

Hi guys - cheers for the responses - Two quite different answers there, is there any way that I can give myself confidence it is/isn't the cyl pressure before spending £££ on calling someone out? Tom

Unvented System - Groan/Water Hammer when opening hot faucet.

Hi :D I had an unvenvted system. Its a 210litre high pressure cylinder in the loft with separate expansion vessel. The boiler is an OilStar oil-fuelled unit downstairs. The system provides DHW to four sinks in the house, and two showers. The pipework gives out quite a loud groan when we...

Dripping Overflow from unvented system (w/pics)

Finally had a qualified plumber round (took week to find someone who would actually turn up...the usual). Anyway - he put my own footpump on the expansion vessel and pumped it up. Sorted in 5 mins. Cost £42. If it goes flat again immediately i'll call them back to switch out the faulty...

Dripping Overflow from unvented system (w/pics)

OK guys, Cheers very much for the help. I learned a couple of things; 1) I'll need to get someone in to do this one 2) BernardGreen likes having a rant :D Will post back results for the benefit of future readers. If anyone is in the Norwich area and would like this job, PM me Tom

Dripping Overflow from unvented system (w/pics)

P.S! Actually - I'd read elsewhere that water would come out of the schrader is the rubber was split - It didn't, bone dry (h/w feed OFF). Could I check the rubber by turning the feed back ON and depressing the Schrader to see if water comes through? Tom
