What to set a WC pan on?

I'm completing refurbishing our upstairs toilet. I've laid Karndean composite click flooring and about to fit the toilet back in but wondering what to set the pan on if anything. The WC is a close couple back to the wall unit and when I push the pan in and against the wall and there is a gap to...

What's making my Combi make a strange noise?

Yes, it’s a Vaillant EcoPlus. So any idea why there is an air sounding noise on HW and not on CH?

What's making my Combi make a strange noise?

Having done some more reading on Google, is it the AAV that needs bleeding. I also see there is a program P.0 which can be used after filling the system. Should the AVV knob be opened or closed? When I did the flush through I discovered water had dripped out of the boiler on investigation I...

What's making my Combi make a strange noise?

Drained system down and flushed it through a couple of weeks ago to replace the cleaner with inhibitor. Filled back up and bleed the system and everything was fine. But I've noticed recently that when hot water is on the boiler sounds like it has air in it as it swirls and gurgles faintly. On CH...

Best way to fill slow spots

Should add, don't take too long applying as Bonding is for low suction backgrounds so putting it on top of the existing Bonding coat will dry out very quick. I keep a spray bottle handy if it does start to pull up.

Best way to fill slow spots

Should be fine. I'm just doing a half wall where the tiles removed the old lime plaster and I've applied two coats so far just waiting now to put a final coat on to rule off with a straight edge.

    4 Zone CH controller

Surely a modulating boiler will take care of this.

    4 Zone CH controller

Thanks, I didn't realise Wiser could manage so many zones and devices. Do you know whether Wiser wifi TRV's can control the boiler? Those relay cards could be interesting especially with the use of Alexa.

    4 Zone CH controller

The boiler is a modulating Vaillant but no OpenTherm. I've been thinking about whether I could use a wifi mains relay driving each zone valve on and off.

    4 Zone CH controller

Our house has three floors and has 18 radiators. I'd like to split the house into four zones to cut down on heating costs. All the rads have TRV's but I'd like the ability to only have the heating on in areas which we are using. Buying something like a Wiser or Evohome with wireless valves is...

Finishing tile to laminate in the bathroom

I did start with a small skirting in mind but then worked down to a quadrant type beading but the wife doesn't like that much either. Tiles will probably be 10mm deep by the time the adhesive is applied. Also the floor area is quite small about 1.5m x 0.8m sp probably not that much expansion.

Plastering guides to get wall plumb?

Hi Lee, don’t understand what you mean. You say battens, are you meaning wood? Is was thinking of some using one of the steel edging beads set into Bonding.

Plastering guides to get wall plumb?

Having taken the old sand/lime plaster off the lower half of our toilet because it was originally tiled how can I get the walls plumb to align with the existing plaster above? Can I use an edging strip set in Hardwall/Bonding and tapped done to get plumb all the way round. Not too worried about...

Bonding or Hardwall on an old concrete brick internal wall

Following on from my previous question about dry lining the bottom half of my downstairs toilet, I've discovered that the depth of the old plaster plus the fact that the walls aren't exactly perpendicular won't allow enough gap to fit plasterboard. I've already PVA'd the walls ready for the...

Finishing tile to laminate in the bathroom

In what order should I fit the tiles and laminate? Should I lay the laminate and then tile down on to them or tile down to the subfloor and then fit the laminate up to the tiles. Instinct tells me laminate first so the expansion gap is covered by the tiles and the gap left between tiles and...

Gap filling when applying a plasterboard to an uneven wall.

Glad you mentioned Soudal as I've just bought some but unfortunately our local B&Q were out of stock. How big should the bead be to ensure a gap fill of 10mm?

Gap filling when applying a plasterboard to an uneven wall.

No, I meant when you're putting the board up. I don't want it to compress too easily as I'd like to be able to tap it in with a long straight edge so it will sit level with some old plaster above. Fixers, hadn't thought about that. I assumed it was a grab type adhesive especially as it has to go...

Gap filling when applying a plasterboard to an uneven wall.

Typo!!! Should have been 10mm. From what you've said I shouldn't have any issues. Does the foam compress with a degree of force? Wouldn't like it to push in too easily as I'm boarding to some existing plaster.

Gap filling when applying a plasterboard to an uneven wall.

As it says, what gap will a foam adhesive fill behind when fitting plasterboard to an uneven wall. It's an old brick and concrete block wall which varies about 5mm to 100mm.

water based undercoat over oil based undercoat

I'm painting the exterior of my bay windows top and bottom. I've finished up some oil based Dulux Weathershield undercoat so was wondering if I can use the Dulux Weathershield quick dry water based undercoat for the 2nd coat. The top coat will be oil based Dulux Weathershield gloss. Richard
