Adding 8XP to a Texecom Elite panel - power off or not?

Hi all, Just about to add an 8XP to my Premier Elite 48 panel and I note the following from the manual: Before connecting keypads, zone expanders and output modules, isolate ALL power from the control panel (AC Mains & Battery). Do not continue if there is still power present on the control...

Setting part arms up on texecom

One thing I found very useful is that you can set an option to "flip" a zone from timed to guard (or vice versa) when in part set. This lets you (for example) have a timed entry door when the alarm is fully set, but make that door an immediate alarm when you part set the alarm at night so that...

    Hikvision - replacement NVR

Ta. Will probably get around to playing over the weekend. I doubt I'll be able to have it completely off (it's quite dark around the back of the house), but judging by how clear it is at 50 (looks like daylight!) I was definitely expecting to reduce it pretty low. Nah, not at all. Regular WD...

    Hikvision - replacement NVR

Bit more feedback - got the NI-I2 installed without issue. Worked a treat and great to see a whole raft of new features in there that my old box desperately needed! Fortunately, my brother had a couple of old 8TB drives he didn't need, so I have more than enough storage for months and months of...

    Hikvision Web Viewing/Management

Nah, be right - it's pretty tolerant to it. I've had to do it once or twice on my own over the years. I'd give that a go before doing anything more robust. After that, it's log in to the local console and check the settings in there.

    Hikvision Web Viewing/Management

Daft thing, but have you tried rebooting it (i.e. turning it off and back on)?

    Hikvision Web Viewing/Management

Can you ping the IP address? Have you checked from the local console that the IP address is as you expect?

    Hikvision Web Viewing/Management

Are you definitely getting a page not found (404) error, or a "cannot connect" browser error? If the latter, and the address is pinging, perhaps the config has reset back to a default port. My own NVR is on port 80 rather than 8081, but might also be worth trying port 8000 as well.

    Hikvision - replacement NVR

Probably should have been clearer - this wasn't about technical support, but about firmware updates. Gone for the 8 channel NI-I2 in the hope that it will continue to be supported with firmware updates longer into the future than my old K1 one was (which still has to be accessed via IE in order...

EUROSEC CP8L reroute bell/siren without alarm going off

If you're looking for how to do a remote bellbox hold-off, I can't help - I tried to do the same with mine, but couldn't find a model for it and, thus, a way to do it remotely so used the ladders instead. The end result was the same (no noise!), the only difference was two trips up the ladders...

EUROSEC CP8L reroute bell/siren without alarm going off

Can you not put the panel into engineer mode first? No expert, but when I replaced my Accenta at the weekend, I put the old panel into engineer mode, climbed the ladders, opened the bell, disconnected the battery (a jumper on the bellbox PCB on mine) and could then disconnect the bell from the...

    Hikvision - replacement NVR

Thanks - any reason, or just a bit of future proofing against Hikvision dropping support? Will hunt out other threads, but new cameras likely to be the new ColorVu stuff (ds-2cd2347g2 in various focal lengths to suit), but Hikvision don't seem to state the camera bitrate with respect to the NVR...

    Hikvision - replacement NVR

I have a somewhat archaic Hikvision DS-7604NI-K1 for which Hikvision seem to have given up producing new updates. I need some more cameras anyway, so was pondering an 8 channel update. Hikvision seem to do a 12MP and 8MP replacement (DS-7608NI-I2 and DS-7608NI-K2 respectively). As I don't...

    Pyronix Anti Code

I've been wondering - what's the use case for this configuration, where they have to contact a third party to request a reset? Is this in the case where you have an ARC and want to be sure that the end-user contacts them to confirm the alarm cause prior to a reset?

Texecom Premier Elite - Home Assistant Integration

That's fair enough and if I were also using the Texecom app, I would say this is mandatory indeed as it seems this is the primary mechanism for protecting traffic between app and alarm. In my case, as I'm dedicating this SmartCom to the interface with HA (which is entirely internal on my...

Texecom Premier Elite - Home Assistant Integration

You'll get no argument from me! The HA "manual alarm" module is a decent stab at this, but you probably have to be willing to sacrifice some of the nicer integration elements (e.g. keypads) and lose some of the robust simplicity of a traditional alarm's physical wiring. That said, I'm sure...

Texecom Premier Elite - Home Assistant Integration

To be fair, I'm leaving my old, homebrew module hanging on the digicom outputs for now until I've got a decent amount of confidence in the IP interface. In fact, there's probably no need to ever remove it as it does the job and is good as a backup notification source anyway.

Texecom Premier Elite - Home Assistant Integration

Not that I know. Well, not one that can directly interact with the Texecom anyway.

Texecom Premier Elite - Home Assistant Integration

Indeed, this is why I prefer to do all of my clever stuff in HA where possible. The other big one is sensor mash-up - e.g. "Do something if the CCTV is triggered when the alarm is set and it's after dusk" - which is made much easier if you have a central hub for your various forms of automation...
