    SWA across concrete footpath

Appreciate the additional information, and very much know that random internet advice comes with most forum posts. I know it's (mostly) from a good place. The sparky I asked when I put the order through for cable is not doing the job, this has been a project that started a while back but I...

Thanks @JohnW2. Appreciate them trying to help, but like you said, the primary question that I was hoping the focus would be on

    SWA across concrete footpath

Thanks, thats an interesting idea, I'll look into that. Turns out the simple answer of channeling out a bit of the concrete is a no go, as the space is too small. I could lift the fence is guess?

Honestly, I was content just knowing that someone who worked in the industry said to get 16mm as a precaution for future loads. Didn't really question it and figured better to have too big a cable than too small anyway. Appreciate the concern of me possibly overspending and having too chunky a...

Before establishing how the cable can be run??

52m length. Consumer unit on the other end, items hanging off of it as described in post #3. The other half of the room may end up being a workshop.

Ok, that's interesting, thanks. to make sure I'm picturing this right, do you mean corner of the house towards the back garden? and is keeping it as low down as the render to make sure it goes under the door? As its 16mm, its got quite wide bend radius. Attached a pic that shows the bottom...

I'm sure the mrs wouldn't complain about another 'garden feature' :) On that train of thought, someone had mentioned to me before about putting a header over my side access gate (pictured), and I could then run the cable around that. I guess that would be very similar concept...

    SWA across concrete footpath

Answer is in my second post (post #3). I confirmed the requirement with a sparky and also used a calculator online , both said 16mm would be safer with that length of run due to drop-off. Definitely 16mm, the cable diameter itself is around 21mm.

Someone had mentioned overhead to me before, via catenary wire. But I'm not sure how that would work without building a pillar for that particular purpose on the fence side of that path?

Hadn't seen these before. I'll certainly keep that as my backup option, or even temporary one until I find a solution. Thanks

    SWA across concrete footpath

I attached a couple more pics on my subsequent post which might help a little, but they dont show the back of the house. Ill take another pic in the morning that shows it a bit clearer. Purely out of curiosity, what makes it difficult to drill a channel in a confined space? Is it not being...

Not sure if you saw the pic attached but the concrete alleyway/side access is not concrete slabs per se, but just solid concrete all the way through. This also wraps round the whole side of the house and the rear to form the patio. No matter which way I go, there is the same concrete to...

    SWA across concrete footpath

Hi, So im hoping for some advice on running swa to my garden room from my house CU. Its going to be clipped to the fence the majority of the way down to the garden room but to get to that point, it needs to come out the sidewall of my house (where the CU is) and across a narow concrete...

    Flaking/bubbling plaster/plasterboard...?

Didn't think of that. Some pictures attached.

    Flaking/bubbling plaster/plasterboard...?

So I'm not sure what exactly is going on here but as a picture is worth a thousand words I've attached. Hoping to get an idea of what's wrong/failing and what would need to be done to fix it? Would very much appreciate your thoughts.

New Block paved drive - no visible haunches on side - is that ok?

It's not, was pre existing. Agree though, the state of it is terrible.

New Block paved drive - no visible haunches on side - is that ok?

It looks to slope away from the house, spirit measure says that it does too. The driveway it replaced did too. The contractor did say he would make sure that it would.

New Block paved drive - no visible haunches on side - is that ok?

I'm thinking there maybe wasn't enough space for that? That said, I guess if he made the drive a little narrower then there could be perhaps.
