me too - I donate to independents only.

I regularly fund and assist in training with independent life boat crews who are increasingly breaking away from the RNLI due to their encouragement of illegal small boats. Unfortunately, many no longer support the RNLi due to the taxi service they provide. It’s not entirely their fault.

Not to mention the shadow French warship and RNLI taxi that awaits.

I know plenty of ex RNLI who now volunteer for independent Lifeboats and I know plenty of people who donate to independents for the same reason others have stated.

A quick google of "RNLI Salaries" confirms it's not one entirely volunteer service. Lifeguards, mechanics and skippers are all paid
