I can see the use-case for remote on/off control and smart control of some sockets A whole lot of domestic smart control of lighting and dont even mention immersion heaters seems unnecessary Timers , current relays , photocell, pirs etc. do most control tasks reliably in a domestic setting

Without going back because it will probably confuse me Fixed wiring Fixed appliances Portable appliances I’ve never had any confusion

without going back Portable means you can disconnect and move it around Fixed means it's wired in to the installation

Without looking back at thread or researching Fixed was connected appliances Portable was plugged in I never saw much confusion
