We have a wide array of things going on to weed out spam, some stop it from ever being posted, some pick it up later. We also rely on people using the Report option to tell us any we've missed, in addition to this the moderators are browsing the forum regularly and spot things. Your's was...

It was actually a spam post that has been removed, but because the email notifications are instant you still get the email. Sorry about that.

It's related to how many alerts you have, these could be private message notifications or reply notifications. If you don't want it, you can disable it here: http://www.diynot.com/diy/account/preferences under 'Live Update Display Options'

You can drag an image to the reply box and it inserts it. Can't be more simple than that. Maybe it needs publicising more? whether it will be read though? Certainly not looking to remove methods of inserting images though.
