Storage Heaters - LOT20/HHR or Standard panel- smoke and mirrors? Choices.

ahh, I was under the impression all the lot20 types have dual function and fan assist (hence needing a daytime supply) by default. Which is what helped them achieve the standard. Although looking again at the manual for that one....it says "Not suitable for use on single supply"

Storage Heaters - LOT20/HHR or Standard panel- smoke and mirrors? Choices.

Yes. Not modern, with moderate insulation. Current occupants are likely to be home all day. I'm leaning HHR/LOT20 storage heaters now. I think it's the best I can go for....however there may be a spanner in the works for actually installing those. As far as I can see, they need two fused...

Storage Heaters - LOT20/HHR or Standard panel- smoke and mirrors? Choices.

Rental, so it will be variable as to occupancy. Anything like a heat-pump is not really an option I don't think, expense wise and property suitability. So it's more getting the best out of all electric heater options.

Storage Heaters - LOT20/HHR or Standard panel- smoke and mirrors? Choices.

Need to replace some water damaged storage heaters. They are a write off. But, I just wanted to go through the options. 1) Replace with standard storage heaters. - Pros) Cheapest option on initial outlay. Cons) Traditional concerns about use in property when people are only in during the...

Lamppost cable. What are they for?

OK, mystery solved. It is indeed an Eruv. I found a comprehensive planning application which covered the whole suburb. In total the there are about 60 roughly demarcating the boundary of the entire suburb, which is a pretty large area. Fascinating.

Lamppost cable. What are they for?

Looking much closer I think I can exclude them being data lines. The cable is just tied off, like a flag pole/ Interesting concept. I think I came across those when I first investigated, but discounted it as there are no Synagogues near and I can't imagine they would get randomly placed on...

Lamppost cable. What are they for?

I am just wondering what these are for. They've cropped up in the area over the last year, some streets have more than one. They seem to use standard lamppost poles but without the lantern on the top. Instead they have a very thin piece of something similar to fishing wire which spans the...

Tyre ratings - smoke and mirrors?

I was looking up tyre stats and came across something curious. Two tyres, same manufacturer, same compound, same size, but different ratings and price. One being A A B, the other being B, C, B...

How often does a frost free freezer normally defrost?

This might help. It's the third part of the video that really helped me work out the issues with mine. He uses a data logger to monitor the defrost cycle too. So it might help as a reference for you.

    Samsung fridge/freezer issue -problem solving

That is what I always assumed, but it is actually not the case. I've worked it all out now, with thanks to a very helpful youtube video. The defrost element is integrated to the cooling evaporator. This freezer also has a secondary pad heater to keep the fan frost free. Basically the...

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

Thanks, I only mention that as I'm sure I knocked that connection while wrestling with the heater control valve and I heard a pssst of air escape for a moment and I thought I had damaged something.

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

Just to clarify, that is this connection, correct? Just want to be 100% sure. Also, should expect air to escape etc. Just want to be prepared for any noises that may make me think I've broken something

    Samsung fridge/freezer issue -problem solving

That's always thought, but for some reason, ice is building up there, as if there is a stall in air flow. If there is no heating component at all, what is this component? It comes up as being this: Trying to work out what it does. It's not near the ice build--up location.

    Samsung fridge/freezer issue -problem solving

Not that I can tell. Certainly nothing I notice compared to how it normally operates. It clicks once when I open it and once when I close, but this sounds like just the actuator for door. When I last fixed it, it seems to work perfect for a week, but it just lets too much ice build up near the...

    Samsung fridge/freezer issue -problem solving

I have this model: Samsung-Rl39wb https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1088853/Samsung-Rl39wb.html?page=1#manual The issues stemmed from leaving the door open, and it building up a large amount of ice. Since then is has not worked properly, even after cleaning the ice. I thought I fixed it at...

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

While I wait on the gasket to arrive. Thought I would post these pictures of how bad the coolant system was before I flushed it. Specifically the header tank. Before You can see how much limescale and debris seems to have built up over the years. My best guess is that this car may not have...

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

Familiarising myself with the process. It seems simple enough. This video seems to suggest that it is beneficial to run a small bead of valve putty in the gasket groove before fitting the rubber gasket in. A few other videos suggest this for corners or any areas with odd joins. Should i...

Ford Ka MK1 Coolent flush - query and questions

On the subject of the valve cover gasket. Is it a part that I should ideally go genuine ford. Or are gaskets so generic it's a safe part to get a third party type. I can't find any ford OEM ones online. But rang a local dealer and they want £48 Whereas something like this is £6...
