They use a “M” ring rather than an “O” ring, once they have been depressurised / demounted then struggle to seal again. You can buy a Demounting tool, bit like a circlip spanner, but better cutting it out and using either Hep2o or compression fittings is the way to go.

Osma Gold used a “M” ring instead of an “O” ring once depressurised and demounted they were prone to leaking. Best advice is to cut them out and replace.

Copper olives and a wrap or 3 of PTFE tape if required, you should keep jointing paste or any oil based products well away from plastic pipes / fittings.

I’d be very surprised if the “O” rings have failed or are failing, they are made from EPDM rubber and have to undergo rigorous testing not only for temperature and pressure cycling but also for chemical resistance (central heating inhibitors etc) and of course be WRAS approved.

As above, replace fitting “like for like” so that the “O” ring sits on the same undamaged section of pipe, also give the fitting a pull back to make sure the teeth bite ok where the damaged pipe is.

I used to fit Torbeck valves but much prefer Fluidmaster with the brass tails. PRO45B / PRO75B and the relevant cistern repair packs Never had a problem with them.
