    Covid 19 report

It varied but some of the issues included not being sterile. Which is kind of the first basic hurdle.

    Covid 19 report

That's not quite true. There was a shortage and part of that was caused by poor purchasing and suppliers trying to provide unsafe equipment which wasn't fit for use like Baroness wasserfsce. The report just published says that a huge amount of money was lost on unusable PPE.

Farage was offered it and rejected it. I don't like Farage and think the country would be better off without him in it or in our politics. But I also think that he does need protection and I find it very odd that he rejected it. Theres nothing stopping you having police and private security so...

    Covid 19 report

Diseases can of course get more severe rather than less severe. Given long enough those more dangerous ones die out as they kill all their hosts before they can transmit themselves. But in the short term it can go either way.

Who? As far as I know Farage was assessed as significant risk but not as much as the highest tier. But he refused that and apparently has private security that he pays for. Khan was assessed as being at much greater risk and so gets more protection.

I wonder how long that is over and what the number is for other prominent politicians. Sadiq khan got 240 threats in three months for example. Although perhaps not all we're death threats...

This is still the most stupid ''critique" from the deniers. If you take massive steps to prevent a contagious virus spread primarily by sneezing being transmitted, a less contagious disease that also spreads primarily by sneezing will also be reduced.

    Covid 19 report

Nope, it didn't kill large percentages but it hospitalised and killed a fair few under 50s. Hospitalisation was around 5% for first infections if unvaccinated. Thats a lot.

    Covid 19 report

If only someone has tried to work out how often this happened... But you wouldn't believe the numbers anyway so it's academic, ironically.

Are you thinking of the race riots where they tried to burn down a hotel, or the one where they tried to burn down a mosque, or the ones in NI where they tried to lynch anyone not born in the UK or with a suspicious tan?

COVID vaccine process redux - Ebola edition

It proved how we could safely test and approve vaccines so much faster. It won't be the new normal as it's more expensive but when you need something fast we know we can do it now.

COVID vaccine process redux - Ebola edition

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cpwep8xnkrqo COVID forced us to examine basic assumptions about vaccine development and realise that there was massive room for parallelization and more effective processes. Now those lessons learnt are being used to develop vaccines for some of the scariest...
