Why aren't we building more prisons?

    We are though.

    Waiting for Russia

Russia might be losing more troops than they're recruiting, but it isn't clear. They are experiencing widespread petrol shortages over most of Russia at the moment. Especially around Crimea where the rail bridge is closed to oil tankers due to concerns about what would happen if they're...

Suffolk hit 37.1 degrees today. So two days in a row in the top 10 hottest days in the UK.

You clearly don't believe in man made climate change and it takes some serious blinders to still believe in that with the overwhelming evidence for it.

That's shocking! It's not like COVID is known to cause heart attacks directly and to cause long term damage that makes heart attacks more likely and that even mild infections make you more likely to experience a heart attack in the days/weeks following.

As far as we can tell, no, not this rate of change. The only stuff that gets close are supervolcanoes. You're not the sort of idiot who demands absolute certainty when it's theoretically impossible are you?

    Abnormally high UK temperatures continue

There are some very big, very slow, cyclical processes that range from 100,000 years to 26,000 years depending on the causes, generally wobbles in our orbit around the sun. Those can't explain the curerent temperature changes. They're far too slow.

Probably not, the atmosphere was only 1-2% oxygen and the period is referred to as 'the boring period '. Why do you think it's important that the temperature might have been higher in the pre industrial period or before humans evolved?

    Abnormally high UK temperatures continue

It probably wasn't. 400 years ago the average was about 2.5 degrees colder. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/climate/maps-and-data/cet-series But if you've got data then I'll listen.

June normally has all the 'all time' records. We've just that the two hottest recorded May days since records began. Today was in the top 10 hottest days for the UK ever. Those should not be happening in May.

    Well done wind

Red is gas, solar is yellow, wind and nuclear are green and orange (not sure which). Solar is only just getting started for the day, it's at 6GW and on the way to match or beat yesterday's 14GW, at which point it'll be pushing some of that gas off the grid. https://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/

We do have good enough information to analyse that. Not because I say so, but because virtually every scientist who studies it says so. Even the fossil fuel industry can't find credible scientists to argue that this isn't manmade and that it isn't the most rapid change that didn't need a...

Fine, since the development/introduction of AC electricity.

    Abnormally high UK temperatures continue

No it wasn't. The temperature change you referenced was a local change only seen in one of a half dozen data sets, not a global change and it is explained by a massive adjustment of ocean currents. That's not happening now. Nor is it quite relevant to this thread, that's global climate change...

You think we need daily maximum temperatures for 10,000 years to be able to tell that the temperature is rising rapidly over a period of a few decades.

https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/hadobs/hadcet/data/download.html Have a look, I'm sure you can extract the data from the download file. Although we only have the average temperature for each month going back that far as, again, we only have very good records since 1884 or so. But even if we did...

    Abnormally high UK temperatures continue

No, we have very accurate records for 140 years, we have lots of less reliable records for longer than that. Yes, it is long enough. The climate doesn't change for no reason, there is always an underlying mechanism driving any climate change for any of the historical examples. Without human...

    Abnormally high UK temperatures continue

Every now and again I follow one of the alerts back to it when I get mentioned or there's a reply. Remember just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's impossible or implausible.
