Intriguing ('made for Britian') Clamp meter!

Thank you. Another person who remembers the traditional counties. Yorkshire is even worse off: it now comprises four modern 'counties'. I still refer to the three Ridings.

    Police officer found not guilty.

Yes indeed. Rather like that other copper who arrested someone but was then charged with a criminal offence for doing so. This country is falling apart. The ones in charge, especially some judges, don't seem to know right from wrong.

    Tadpoles and leaves in pond?

Well done, Odds. I applaud your giving help to birds. They can't get to my pond (though they sometimes sit on the net and think about it), but I do put out food on a bird table (which the squirrels also use) and a hanging basket, along with a bowl of water well above ground. I am very happy to...

    Tadpoles and leaves in pond?

I have a net covering the pond, so the tadpoles and perhaps the young frogs might have found it difficult to come out of the pond. I have left a suitable gap in the net at the back of the pond and the adult frogs can (and do) come out through that area. There's no way a bird could reach the...

    Tadpoles and leaves in pond?

Yes, I'm sure you're perfectly correct. In any event, there are initially hundreds of tadpoles, but only a small number of frogs so they could have been eating each other. I wonder whether that might be an advantageous solution for overpopulation of humans too!

    Tadpoles and leaves in pond?

We have tadpoles every Spring, but by the Summer they are either all frogs or have been eaten (by the goldfish?).

    Random loss of TV signal

I agree. I don't like the BBC, but the wife does so she pays for the licence!

    Legit MS Office?

I can fully agree that LibreOffice is good. They also have a very good online site where you can get answers to any problems. My version of MS Word went tits-up some months ago and I didn't fancy paying for a new one, so I thought I'd try LibreOffice. Definitely recommend it.

    Random loss of TV signal

We do occasionally find a programme on ITV disappears half-way through. We have to go back and find the programme and re-load it. Quite apart from this problem, I'm afraid that ITV is no longer the best channel on television as it used to be.

The phase out of ice engines..

I am not going to end up in a slanging match with the EV brigade. I say, leave them to it if they're happy with all the drawbacks. After all, we live in a free country (or used to). I'm sure that time will tell, and they will quickly do a U-turn!

The phase out of ice engines..

Well it won't work on me. Electric cars are completely unattractive for several reasons, primarily their cost, relatively short lives, lack of range, expensive to run unless you have your own charger, and... they do tend to explode and burst into flames!

    Door sticking.

Fortunately, in my case, the door is not rubbing on the carpet beneath, so just a bit of sanding on the side which rubs against the frame.

    Door sticking.

Thank you both for your helpful suggestions. The door hasn't dropped on its joints and it isn't rubbing on the carpet beneath. I have checked the hinges and the screws are all still tight and no hinges moving. There are no gaps or apparent movements anywhere on the frame. I shall do a bit of...

    Door sticking.

Recently, our inside door to the porch has been sticking. I assume it is due to the unusually hot weather, and after many years in this house, it has never happened before. I can't be sure whether it is the frame or the door itself expanding. I can see no cracking anywhere. I can, of course...

Dewalt (DWHT77100-XJ) laser measure - WAY off?

Having read all this, I think I'll give laser measurers a miss! I stick to tape measure and do it in bits.

Is there a way to remove screw blanks from light switch?

My preference is Torx screws without a doubt, especially if you want to keep a reliable connection for your screwdriver.

    Pavement parking.

Well the footpaths along our road, and many others in this area, have been perfectly fine for over a hundred years and are unlikely to be relaid in order to make them narrower! The system works well, assuming of course that most motorists bear in mind to leave a sufficiently wide area of the...
