    Problem with Bathroom Extractor Fan

Is the Feed to the transformer ok? Any loose connections? Sounds very frustrating!

    RCD trips (Ed.)

This could be caused by a Number of issues. Often it's caused by Water Ingress, with the fuse off check to see if there is any water present on the circuit. Is there a fused connection unit feeding the boiler / under floor heating? Are there two separate ones for each or one for both?

    FCU and outdoor socket

Do you mean just removing a back box knockout and drilling out through the wall?

    Lights wired to socket

I think Sunray has answered my query - looks like there may have been storage heaters in the property on Economy 7 at some point and now the five storage heater FCU's may have been changed to single sockets?

RCD-protected circuit that is not on a separate breaker

Hi Tony, I think so, As per Flameport's comments - If every MCB is switched off and both RCDS off and the only way of powering down that socket and Vent-Axia Fused Spur is by the Main switch then it sounds like a secondary cable is feeding that circuit and does require investigating.

RCD-protected circuit that is not on a separate breaker

Those are MCBs not RCDs. If all those MCBS FED from the 63A RCD are off it must be being Fed from an MCB something to the left of the RCD shown - can you try those? Can you post a photo with all the MCBS in the board as looking at the photo it looks like you have a dual RCD board? N.B. Might...

RCD-protected circuit that is not on a separate breaker

I'm not entirely sure what you mean in Q1. circuits 6,7,8 & 9 are FED from the RCD by the looks of it. Doesn't the MCB circuit 6 B32A power that double socket and vent-axia? Q2 - can't see a problem could sit right next to the other one if that was moved a couple of inches to the left

    Lights wired to socket

The board looks like it feeds four socket circuits on the right via b16 MCB's not on the RCD protected side which looks a bit odd. is this a normal house?

    Lights wired to socket

The light switch requires re-terminating as you can see bare copper on one of the terminations. If you do decide to install a sunken back box you may find you'll need to fit it at least a couple of inches above the surface mounted box as where it is you may find it difficult to plug equipment in...

    Is this a C1?

Water jets from the shower on the bath could quite likely squirt towards the lamp and certainly get it wet so I agree with EFLI could do with a Globe type or something else with a decent IP rating. C2 Could also do with a decent coat of paint

Two electricians telling me different things, confused and a bit concerned

Your board does require updating with RCD/RCBO protection SP and also AFDD (on sockets) to meet current Regs , RCD in particular if you use electrical equipment outdoors such as a hedge trimmer or lawn mower. It's probably safe in terms of over current protection though. The house will only need...

    32A Industrial socket for cooker?

Depends how high your load is but will mean Running a larger cable and a larger MCB. Also why on Earth are you wanting to plug in some kind of Mixer into a kitchen circuit

Isn't that product three phase? Edit (sorry inbetween posts above...)

The second electrician says the first one shouldn't have issued a satisfactory EICR.

You could argue that having different manufactured MCBs there could be an undue strain on one make as they don't fit exactly the same when they are installed on the busbar - this could be one reason why the left hand MCBS aren't as neatly aligned as they could be. You asked for advice and any...

The second electrician says the first one shouldn't have issued a satisfactory EICR.

From what I'm reading the board was completely taken out (or all circuits) and then refitted - the right hand RCD has been reconfigured with 3 mcbs and the left now has 6. The labels are all over the place with gaps in between the MCBS whoever installed it was wrong to say it was satisfactory...

The second electrician says the first one shouldn't have issued a satisfactory EICR.

Well the new board has mixed manufacturers MCBs (that alone makes it non compliant afaik) and looks awful with the cover on, there's no time delay RCD. I don't understand why whoever fitted the board didn't use BG over Contactum, very odd. The second electrician seems correct.

Reeds switch cable to window and doors

If it's only 3.3V can you not just use a telephone / data or Bell wire? To join a Wago box with ends doubled over or even an inexpensive joint box. Staple gun the cable? Or cleats should be fine.

    Location for PIV

As long as it's at a high point I can't see an issue, I'm thinking of installing one myself so will see what others suggest.

    Ring Circuit - ready reckoner

Sounds very much like it's a Spur off the Ring but could be part of a Ring so test away to find out. Do you know where it goes after the Joint box? Maybe a Fused spur / FCU will help if it's just a spur unless there's already one upstream somewhere?

    Providing EICR to clients

Yes that's true now. I took my 2391 in 2007 and the exam was written with no book either!
