    Electric vans

Probably too expensive as yet, but the Ford e-Custom is quite good. We use them at work. Claimed up to 200 mile range, but a genuine 130-160 (depending on time of year, how much stuff you carry round with you, etc), seems to be achievable. The 2.3 kW power take-off is pretty good too, if...

    Car revs question

Yes, electricity is really hard to find. Hardly anywhere has electricity...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Sometimes it's the way the reinforcing bands in the carcass have been wound. Other times it's the tread pattern that disperses water better in one direction than the other. (Or indeed both).

    Car revs question

They have "fuel gauges" you know? Anyone stupid enough to run out of battery would also run out of diesel.

    Car revs question

:ROFLMAO: Yes, electricity is so hard to find!;). Fine by me, of course, but with diesel prices the way they are at present, I'm bloody glad it's not me!

    Car revs question

Meh... A 3 litre Guiseppe Busso-designed V6, that's what you need. Docile, torquey (for a petrol engine) and tractable from 1000 to 4000 RPM, and then a howling banshee that pulls all the way to the redline between 4000 and 6000! Best of both worlds. Of course, for the real win... ...a...

    Car revs question

You'll be fine. Do what you have to do to achieve what you need to achieve. Different engines have different "characters". Some give their best at low revs, others at high. Hondas are notoriously "revvy". You won't hurt it as long as you stay blow the redline. My old Italian car is 37...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

This is my 4th 164, but one of the previous ones had a Mangoletsi sticker on it. When TVR were developing the "S" in the late '80s, they wanted to use the Alfa V6 and I think they had some discussion with Mangoletsi on supply of engines, but it wasn't to be, sadly. For what they wanted for...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Maybe, I guess, but I'm surprised that reg is even still on DVLA's computer - there wasn't a lot left of the car when I'd finished with it! It certainly got written-off during the time I had it, (not my fault, I hasten to add)! I then got given another one and nicked all the better bits off...

As far as I know, it was always that maroon colour?

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

It was indeed! And much better than the lower-spec. ones with the single carb, because the flat 4 engine meant the inlet manifold had to be very long. He would have problems with it icing in winter. A carb on each bank was the answer.

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Here's what a DS looks like in a drag race with a few fast Fords. Absolutely hilarious - that photo was taken just after someone shouted "go". All the other cars started moving - the DS just lifted its nose in the air and squatted its tail to the ground before going anywhere! and no, I...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Yes, it was nearly 10 years old when the photo was taken. We were students with no money! But it was way more rotten than my DS (which cost me £75 from a dealer, by the way!) and the DS was a 1971 car, I think - and they had quite a reputation for rust too!

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Fantastic! This was my mate's, circa 1985-6 I'd guess. Absolute shed! (yes, that was rusty water leaking out of the bottom of the fuel tank...)! Here it is with the car I had at the time, (and old Citroen DS) on Radlett Aerodrome. An eclectic pair of cars, I'm sure you'll agree!

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Sometimes, yes. Lots of problems with the 164 as a result of it being a left-hooker by design. Don't talk to me about clutch master cylinders! ;)

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Other than the "Ferrari" engine, I thought the Thema was a bit dull. I'm biased, of course, but I think in terms of looks alone, the 164 was head-and-shoulders better than the other three. Dynamically, they were all pretty much like a Fiat Croma with a bodykit, of course. The 164 with the 3...

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Mate of mine had a series of Suds when we were students. Absolute dogs, all of them but SO much fun! Those little flat 4 motors were absolute jewels!

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

It's an old 164 (1989 Series 1). Pretty obscure, but I'm fond of it!

    Tyre Rotation, any point?

Some high performance tyres start with less tread on them, because the manufacturer wants to keep any "vagueness" due to tread block distortion to a minimum. My EV is on "ordinary" high performance tyres, rather than EV-specific.
