    Roads that give cyclists priority.

You could start a fight in an empty room! If you drive a car, don't pay it and see if you get caught. I've agreed with that in more than one post. And I pay road tax and income tax.

How does that explain your thinking?

    Roads that give cyclists priority.

That's what I always understood, going back decades. Though in the 1970s or 80s there was an anti-HGV campaign, run by the Sunday Times IIRC, which claimed the opposite. I didn't believe it then.

It doesn't feel that way, but I'll take your word for it. Nothing to do with the subject of this thread.

I've talked to Dutch cyclists who say although the country is nice and flat the wind is a problem. I doubt it's much windier in the Netherlands than UK, but here I have more trouble with hills than wind.

No doubt, and without studying the history of it, I assume road tax for cars, HGVs etc has increased to reflect their road usage. Irrelevant anyway, as we've all agreed it goes into the general taxation pot. I was just commenting on nosey's post about Amazon not paying enough (non-road) tax...

I don't need to work it out, they do, as they should. What point are you trying to make? BTW I ride a bike and drive a car.

    Roads that give cyclists priority.

Maybe originally vehicle tax was spent on roads (or was meant to be) but there's not been any pretence that that's the case for many years. As you say, it all goes into one pot. It would be good if Amazon and the like paid more tax, but not specifically for roads. They could as easily be accused...

Blocked smart meter install: Bunched tails in floating Henley blocks – how to get it sorted?

I'd guess in most cases the leaseholder inherits the "contract" when he moves in. But does the contract cover supply of electric (the easy bit) or maintenance of the kit as well? It doesn't seem right that the leaseholder is responsible for upgrading to correct a potentially dangerous situation

What are you on about? Do you think Amazon don't tax their vehicles?

Not with you. Vehicle owners pay ££ that non vehicle owners don't, whatever you call it.

    Octopus Smart meter.

This issue was discussed here https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/smart-meters-good-choice.646687/post-6033448 at considerable length.

Doesn't the property owner/freeholder have any responsibility here? Just curious.
