Ok to spray paint on cables?

An alternative way, you might consider, is to simply paint over the cables, then keep an eye on them for any deterioration in the future. If any then show deterioration, you could replace them. Cable, is not expensive, but it would depend on the number of cables.

Help with kitchen rewire and heating costs estimate pls

Oh, I see them as much worse than that - they are inhabited by absolute untrustworthy, chancers, often as not, with no skills whatsoever. The problem with the UK, is that absolutely anyone can call themselves a skilled, builder, joiner, plumber, heating engineer, mechanic, or electrician, with...

    Tractor mower deck

Thanks! I sold its predecessor, for something like £200, to a fishing lake, to mow their path around the lake, around 10 years ago. I bought this one, as a replacement, paying more than I should, around £450. Like many of the up, and over the back axle designs, for cutting collections - it would...

    Tractor mower deck

It took me a while to get round to it, due to sorting other issues on the tractor, plus numerous hospital appointments, weather and etc., but today, I finally got there. Other issues were a broken front drive belt, a snapped weld on the brake pedal. This latter was a 20mm shaft, spot welded, end...

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

Either it is inside, or outside your fence line.

    An unsheathed wire

More common is a single terminal, for all of the wires to go in, rather than three individual terminals. I would be questioning the need for there ever to be four wires, at one socket, and be trying to trace them. Two wires suggests a socket is on the ring. Three would suggest a socket on the...

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

If that is not your phone cable, then who ever put it there, would need a way leave, to put it there, and be paying you for the privilege.

Help with kitchen rewire and heating costs estimate pls

Yes, but without troubling the vendor. The other type of site, is one where the client, lists the requirements of the job, and tradesmen interested in doing the job, having read the requirements, offer their quote for the work.

Has plug and play solar now been passed, I see adverts?

None-the-less, the times when they do produce the 800w, will be during the day, when many homes are empty, and so their base load will be at a minimum. I would suggest my 100 to 300w, is not far from normal, when a gas option is used. Obviously, to pick up the house load, the inverter would...

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

Volt sticks detect the 'field' around a live cable. If the cable is screened, or armoured, they cannot detect anything. They are not allowed to use plastic pipe indoors, for gas pipes. Plastic can melt, if there is a fire.

What have you been doing today?

I was very busy at the time, mostly working away from home, and so never really took much interest in the case, at the time. The first I knew about it was, me homeward-bound, at my usual brisk rate, along a narrow country road, just 1/2 mile from home, I crested a hill, and there ahead of me -...

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

If a power cable, it will be armoured, and the armouring earthed. A none contact wand will not work through earthed metal armour. Does the OP have gas in the house? Check the colour of the pipe, at the meter.

Has plug and play solar now been passed, I see adverts?

Isn't that inevitable, if the capacity exceeds the demand of the house? If I fitted one, our demand is 100 to 300w, an 800w panel, on a good sunny day would generate a surplus of 500 to 700w, where would that go, assuming no storage.
