Plug in balcony solar UK , just a Lidl question

I do remember products like that used with narrow boats, I have not worked with one for some 20 odd years now, just remember they existed.

I must be missing something. So the supply comes from either DNO or the inverter, and the cable to be connecting them both together has a RCD placed at the DNO end, as once the device opens, the inverter will auto shut down. So DNO to inverter flow direction easy, turn off DC isolator, and it...

Yes, just because half of mine work without using a hand, using voice control, does not mean I think that's what everyone should do. I had problems with central heating when I moved in, and I was annoyed that I could not buy a TRV base for less than a TRV base and head, so the heads just went...

I have to agree, on another forum seen the take-up on plug and play, if one already has a G99 submitted then no need to wait. If not, then waiting may mean payment for export. As far as I am concerned, if they are permitted, one on the wall facing morning winter sun may help, but not until...

Plug in balcony solar UK , just a Lidl question

Today be it industrial or domestic, loads of motors are driven by inverters, I know my washing machine, fridge/freezer and freezer are inverter drives, and it would not matter if the change over is out of sync. But we still do have some single phase motors, and when I was talking about changing...

Sorry yes. It seems not, to have a heat pump it seems one needs planning permission, so if I want to use the excess power I am producing to cool my house, I need permission from the council unless using a portable AC, and not even sure on that. Some people are simply against change.

It would require votes, and would take time, which we don't have, so can't be done.

So what do you think? Is there really a problem with plug in solar, or is it just scaremongers, or people who have paid a fortune for solar not wanting others to get it at a very much knock down price. Should the manufacture of uni-directional RCD/RCBO have ever been permitted, and you can add...

Exactly, so it needs to be in sync before the power outage to be sure no problem when changing over due to back EMF from motors etc, and also with return it needs to sync before letting the grid supply take over again. With no sync-scope, I was told to wait 5 minutes for all the ACs to lose...

They have already had the time, although only announced in March, studies have been going on for 18 months. efixx seem to say there is no problem with uni-directional RCD's as it disconnects fast enough not to damage them. So we are left with the same problem we have with garden trampolines...

    Portable AC power use.

Fan only 127 watts, where the pedestal fan is 37 watts, so even in fan only mode, it is a heavy power user. Rated to use 755 watts, I note actually uses 750 watts, it has dropped room temperature by 2ºC, where another room has risen by a degree, so all in all dropped 3ºC in 1 hour 45 minutes...

Plug in balcony solar UK , just a Lidl question

Yes, my power to freezers is classed as an EPS, not an UPS, and it seems the difference is the milliseconds it takes to change over. But the UPS units I have worked with, do not run all through the inverter all the time, but take over when the supply drops, and they stay synchronised to the...

Query about warm/hot plugs. Getting contradictory advice online

There are some abnormalities. Unit marked 220 - 240 volts, and 50 - 60 Hz 14 watts, but the plug says it is a battery charger, so a DC output of 12 volts 1.2 amps, 14.4 watt, my guess, and only a guess, is they are made for Europe, and to sell in the UK the supplier had to find an alternative...

I as said did think about it, however that would be a dog in a manger situation, as if I want more panels, law change or not, I would buy them, so why stop others. It is a let the buyer be aware situation. There has to be a limit to cotton wool use.

What is electrical equipment and what is an electrical installation?

Weighted down with containers filled with water, Not fixed. But this must be considered as installed. So the same kit depending on how used could be a portable appliance and installed. This is clearly not installed and likely to be exported to neighbours garden in the next high wind. A kettle...

I am no longer working, and although I take an interest, I don't feel it is my place. Personally I do many things which don't to the letter comply with regulations, I have some of these, I know they don't comply, but they are handy for some of the equipment I use. Should I tell someone else...

What is electrical equipment and what is an electrical installation?

@JohnW2 I see your point, but I would say a built-in cooker and hob are installed, but a freestanding cooker, I would expect on moving house one would take it with you. So not installed even if hard-wired. And a trouser press I have screwed to wall just to stop it falling over. Same with...

Yes, but is the reverse also true, I think not, which is what @JohnW2 has said.

And yet another one it does not say anything new, so why. Problems are still the same, will a reverse power shut off fast enough to stop damage, and two not all units with in/out marked are uni-direction and third how do you know if marked in/out without removing the CU cover.

What is electrical equipment and what is an electrical installation?

That is very true, I remember in collage them talking about a picture, very valuable, where the frame was nailed to the wall, so it could not be removed on selling the property, it is a long time ago, I would say be it a nail or screw, if it needs a tool to remove it, then it's a fixture. But...
