Cast iron range cooker: Stored heat v Forced draught burner

Hello, I'm looking for a cast-iron cooker (gas) but not sure which one to buy. Would appreciate all the advice. According to the article below (see link below), not every cast iron range cooker works in the same way, some are stored heat cookers (atmospheric burner), others are Forced draught...

Secondary DHW loop on a combi?

Dan, Well, I thought you had to buy a 'sealed' boiler if you wanted an unvented cylinder. I didn’t realise that an OV boiler with an F & E tank could be used. OK maybe not ‘intermediate’ but I can’t think of a good word. :)

Secondary DHW loop on a combi?

Thanks guys for all the replies. No, I can't think of a reason why an unvented cylinder would not fit the bill. It's just that I don't have any experience with these. I like the look of the following diagram (from the Building Regs), which is sort of an intermediate system (unvented DHW and...

Secondary DHW loop on a combi?

None actually. My house (recent purchase) is currently undergoing a major refurbishment.

Secondary DHW loop on a combi?

Yes, I would like hot water pretty much instantly available at the taps. I was thinking a schematic something like in the attached diagram below. Can the circulation run in convection? Great! Which brands have that? Merry Christmas.

Secondary DHW loop on a combi?

The only thing I don't like about combi's is latency. It takes about a minute for the hot water to arrive and another half-a-minute for the temperature to stabilize. This is the reason why I've been thinking about other types like conventional open-vented or thermal stores with PHE but from...

Remove just the existing plasterboard from the lime ceiling?

No. A fluorescent light used to be there.

Remove just the existing plasterboard from the lime ceiling?

Here is a photo I've taken today: The board seems to be brown on the outside and white inside.

Remove just the existing plasterboard from the lime ceiling?

Might as well while the house is undergoing a major refurbishment. Anyway, I wouldn't want to live in a house with asbestos.

Remove just the existing plasterboard from the lime ceiling?

OK thanks. Sorry for not saying earlier but I'm not sure if the boarding is made from plaster. I think it might be some sort of fibre cement, I'll double check.

Remove just the existing plasterboard from the lime ceiling?

I recently purchased an old property (built in circa 1880). The original ceiling of lath & lime plaster is still there in all rooms but unfortunately they've been overboarded by white plasterboard. I understand that gypsum is pink, so does white plasterboard mean asbestos? I have a strange...

    Indirect thermal store?

You mean DTC (Distribution tempering control) like this one? http://www.altecnic.co.uk/plumbing-heating/thermostatic-mixing-valves/3b/ :)

    Indirect thermal store?

Hey echoes, Would an thermostatic mixing valve be something like this? https://www.screwfix.com/p/pegler-p402-tmv-22mm/60528?tc=BB9&ds_rl=1249799&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1249481&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9ZbbhaeF2AIVhZztCh2YuQ4gEAYYBCABEgLOwvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CLPZxK-ohdgCFVGeGwodlB0PQA

    Indirect thermal store?

    Interesting. And what now?

    Indirect thermal store?

Thanks. I'll bear that in mind. However, there's probably no point in changing an old boiler for a new one. Here is a good article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/lifestyle/interiors/renovating/9791140/Do-I-need-to-install-a-new-boiler.html
