    Grid switch fuse wiring help

Ah ok. I have actually done it the other way around. I have the live wire from my flex outlet in the wall going into L1 (fuse), then I have linked this to L supply on my switch with a short wire. As in the supply live connection goes to the fuse first rather than the switch as shown above...

    Grid switch fuse wiring help

Thanks both. I was pretty sure it didn’t matter as the terminals are obviously just either end of the fuse but just wanted to check- and that is how I’ve wired it with L1 in and L2 out.

    Grid switch fuse wiring help

Hi all, I have some grid switches ready to install for some kitchen appliances, specifically a fridge and a freezer. This includes the 13A fuse within the grid switch. I was however expecting to see Live in, and then load on the fuse so my supply cable live would connect to L in, and then I'd...

Heat Pumps and Zones (or not?)

All I can say is how does it work fine in our house then with relatively stable temperatures across all rooms. I've put a graph on the above post which evidences it. I can post more if you like of loads of temp sensors I have dotted around the house. If I put a temp sensor right by the oven...

    Push Fit onto Copper Pipes

I solder (as a diy’er) all the time in confined spaces exactly like the photos, next to various things that may catch fire. I use a heat resistant mat which I tape or pin to whatever adjacent surface I need to protect. Very simple and I can’t think of many, if any places in our house where I...

Heat Pumps and Zones (or not?)

Yes, it is probably misleading to refer to a heat pump always running and heating. Our's is alway in heating mode but it will cycle throughout the day and will oscillate around the set weather compensation curve point (with one defrost cycle shown below as you mention above). When OAT drops to...

Heat Pumps and Zones (or not?)

I meant moreso those who are using drastic setbacks to unused rooms, but in any case radiator balancing can result in even temperatures across different rooms as of course the emitters aren't going to be precisely sized for the heat loss of the individual rooms. I think you'd be surprised if...

Heat Pumps and Zones (or not?)

Sounds good, and simple set up. Minimal zoning and no buffer tank. I'd be interested to know whether anyone employing extensive microzoning within their property can evidence any savings from doing it. I tried it- zoning rooms that we didn't use much with smart TRVs and closing doors one...

Heat Pumps and Zones (or not?)

Glad it is working well. What heat pump/controls did you go for? I’m running ours on pure weather compensation now. No room influence/thermostats and single zone. Works very effectively.

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 428 constant cycling

Can you not get a CH pump that displays the flow rate, or get some form of flow meter so you can see exactly what is going on with that side of things? Our ecotec (got rid of it now and installed different system) I remember used to cycle a lot. One particular issue was self inflicted as I was...

Best wiring solution for LED driver in kitchen cabinet

Hi all, I have a LED strip to install in one of my kitchen cabinets. I have the 12v LED driver which is powered by an adapter which I need to plug in somewhere close by. I have the supply side of things sorted- it is just where to mount the socket. I am guessing a surface mounted box somewhere...

Plumbing in kitchen sink waste (Blanco- odd size waste kit)

Yes. Recommissioning the two white plastic elbows in the ‘top’ kit, and even then they are different pieces/lengths. Just seems such an untidy solution all round, and the sink was not cheap.

Plumbing in kitchen sink waste (Blanco- odd size waste kit)

If you mean the connection here between the black piece directly under the pop up waste, and the white elbow.... Yes that comes apart. I spoke to the retailer today in fact (a separate issue is that one of the pieces is broken so I need to get it replaced) and they said that I should just...

Plumbing in kitchen sink waste (Blanco- odd size waste kit)

Thanks- I suspected the main thing causing me strife trying to work it out, is that the fittings provided are rather over complicated. Strange kit to supply with the sink I have.

Plumbing in kitchen sink waste (Blanco- odd size waste kit)

No it's a double sink. One overflow, with the pop up wastes.

Plumbing in kitchen sink waste (Blanco- odd size waste kit)

Thanks.... I think I've figured it out (or part of it). The nudge above resulted in me having a proper look in one of the kits I've been sent and there is indeed a coupler so that side of things is sorted. The instructions though I cannot work out. I've been sent the drain kit which is this...

Plumbing in kitchen sink waste (Blanco- odd size waste kit)

Hi all, I have a Blanco kitchen sink that I need to install, and it came with a waste kit. I have noticed however that the outer diameter of the waste pipe is a few mm narrower than the standard "40mm" solvent weld pipe I have used for my waste run behind the cabinet. Photo attached (bottom...

Double oven- what would be the best flex outlet/switch options

Sorry one more question. Is there any reason why I can’t do cable to the cooker switch, and then use 3 way wagos in a junction box to split and supply the two ovens? I have some room in the void/under cabinets where I can put the box

Double oven- what would be the best flex outlet/switch options

All noted and understood, thanks all. That is why I wanted to ask on here :)

Double oven- what would be the best flex outlet/switch options

Right I think I follow now- I was thinking about it the wrong way around and dual outlet plate first. What I should do is have one cooker switch, and then my cable from this cooker switch goes to the dual outlet plate to wire both ovens?
