Chimney Pot Cover ... too short ?

Thanks. Trying to think of a simple solution; the back of the hip looks like it might be open and receiving rain flowing down the pot behind - I can concrete that shut. At the front, is there something I can stick on top, like another hip tile over hanging at the front, do they fit on top of...

Chimney Pot Cover ... too short ?

There is some damage in the chimney, looks like long term water ingress .... on the top at the front is a shallow "cover" that does not overhang ... the prevailing wind (pretty strong in Brighton) points directly into it. Could this be letting in a fair amount of water ? Thanks

Uk Growth rate fastest it's ever been - beating the EU

The West has lost momentum and a lot of damage is being done during these "changes". There will be many losers, but the UK has deep roots and a privileged position, it is likely to survive. But even if the UK comes out well, the world culture is declining, becoming dull and superficial.

    Expanded ULEZ

The West has lost its way, it rejects God and its own culture. Green Agenda is one of the synthetic attempts at a replacement. Won't work. A culture is like a tree, if the tree starts to die then you need to fix the tree. Which you can't do if you hate what you are (wormtongue). We are meant to...

    DIY Torch On Bitumen Parapet

I suppose I could use a small blowlamp (similar to camping stove) like this one: https://www.toolstation.com/auto-blowlamp/p43245 It's only about 2m of parapet I am looking at. Worst case I ruin some felt or it doesn't stick - could be worse.

    DIY Torch On Bitumen Parapet

Hi, around in Brighton to stop parapet leaks the preferred method seems to be torch on bitumen in sheets about 0.5m long. Is this possible to do diy? What is the procedure and equipment? I assume the render needs to be made good. For the torch, is there a mini hand-held alternative to a large...

Wood interior windows ... slight repair ?

Sorry boring question but with the 'black line' at the bottom of the windows - hows best to repair before painting. A little of the wood is degraded. Should I just get cheapo interior mastic ? Or something more serious - if I use wood filler there's barely room and I don't want it sticking on...

Hi, I just changed the cartridge and the motion is a bit different there is a double motion you open the lever and the water comes out but about half way it stops unless you pull a little harder and it opens full. Buying a Flat above a Launderette ?

Hey, a friend of mine is looking at buying a 2 bed flat on the 1st floor above a launderette in Brighton. Is there anything particular he should know, any particular risks or things to check for ? Here's a photo of the back. I think he can make his own entrance by straightening the stairs and...

Transom Replacement for Acoustic : Toughened vs Laminated

Rebate is 27mm so lots of room ... thanks yeah both being 6mm is not as good as having different thicknesses. One thing I don't know is when I get the glass cut how much should I deduct from the aperture size? Is 5mm about right? I am going to use glazing putty around so that it absorbs...

Transom Replacement for Acoustic : Toughened vs Laminated

Hi, it's above the front door of a flat (there is an existing georgian wired that will stay) it's to block noise from people in the shared hallway. Two question, firstly what deduction to I make from the aperfture width/height to get the glass cut ? Is 5mm okay, it's pretty square imo. Second...

Sash window cord : nylon core ??

Yeah it's expensive Everlasto sash cord. But I had some other cord from Everalsto in the past, which was very high quality but it was woven waxed cotton and no nylon centre. Never heard of sash retainers will use next time, but I did ask some professional sash window guys they said they use...

Sash window cord : nylon core ??

Hi. I bought some expensive Everlasto sash cord and discovered that the cotton sheath is not woven to the nylon core, and the nylon core itself is also unwoven, it is straight fibres bundled. That particular batch was defective, however then I got some standard cord from Screwfix and looking...

So come on, pick Boris's successor.

The whole culture is collapsing these bozos don't know anything or do anything. Immigration is just part of the destruction of all nations and turning the entire planet into the "freedom" of being ants and living off plastic and ground up grasshoppers. It's like with building materials, GRP...
