There is some damage in the chimney, looks like long term water ingress .... on the top at the front is a shallow "cover" that does not overhang ... the prevailing wind (pretty strong in Brighton) points directly into it. Could this be letting in a fair amount of water ? Thanks

Answer is : the white fittings on the fronts, need to be pointy end upwards, they go forwards into the housing (with blue buttons depressed) and then they click dowards (slight down pressure) then release the blue buttons and they click in place
