Advice required on window film / tinting for the house

As above, if your aim is to reduce the temperature when it’s sunny, the film really needs to go on the outside. You need to reduce the light before it comes through the glass. It’s called the “greenhouse effect”.

    Uneven concrete slab

Is the concrete thick enough for the required strength? If so, consider adding more insulation - that's actually beneficial. Polystyrene is cheaper than PIR. Sand to fill remaining gaps. (Just some ideas. Not my speciality!)

how much is this property worth in rent?

To be pedantic - they haven’t filed any corporate accounts, which is not quite the same thing.

    New boiler above gas meter

Dear Experts, I'd like my new boiler to go in this alcove: A challenge is of course the gas meter. It was previously in a small cupboard, which I've dismantled from around it; I would rebuild something for both the meter and the boiler, presumably behind separate doors. The pipes come under...

    Triton Shower Power Light

I don’t think the switch has failed as a consequence of being turned on and off, since there will have been zero current flowing when it was operated. Most likely, the connection where it has failed was not tight. It would have failed anyway. Replace the switch. Use a good-quality replacement...

It also doesn't have any insulation on any of the hot water pipes.

Is this horizontal Tank Installation correct?

I’m looking at this document; it’s not entirely clear if it’s the right one: https://ukcylinders.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/UK-Cylinders-Indirect-Horizontal-External-Expansion-Manual-V1-2024.pdf Hmm, it seems I can’t copy-and-paste from it but here are some approx quotes and other notes...

Is this horizontal Tank Installation correct?

Where did you find this installer? Did you check their qualifications? Why have they not put their details on the label where required? I am not a heating engineer, but I’ve just had a quick look at the manual for your cylinder and have spotted three deviations from from the instructions so...

    Insulating my ancient living room

I don’t have the legs. I think that whoever dumped it managed to post the legs into the bin, but the top wouldn’t fit, so they left that leaning against the bin from where I acquired it.

    Radiator valve

What are we looking at in these photos? In the first photo, I can see from top to bottom: a radiator tail, a lockshield valve, and an (old?) TRV. In the second photo I can see a radiator with a tail connected. So no photo of the new TRV or the supposed adaptor? Are you looking at the new...

    Boiler in outside cupboard

No, it’s fine. In the house where I grew up the boiler was moved from the kitchen to an outside boiler house in the early 70s. This was to make the kitchen larger - at that time, boilers were bigger than they are today. It has been fine for 50 years, with 3 different, progressively-smaller...

    What can I use

Yes, assuming you have a laptop. Buy a cheap USB analogue to digital converter. (AKA “USB Oscilloscope”.) Less than £50 on eBay and probably even less on AliExpress. Connect one channel to a current transformer (with a shunt resistor I guess??), and the other to measure the voltage a suitable...

    Sliding Mitre saw PSMS210L

Who on earth would give a rusty old mitre saw to an OAP with a brain tumour? Don’t use it, and keep your fingers (etc.) intact. Good find - but note that their scan of the manual has omitted the 5 pages of safety instructions.
